This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
Many powerful characters in Boruto possess Shinjutsu, making them far superior to ordinary ninjas who rely on ninjutsu, genjutsu, or even senjutsu. Every powerful shinjutsu stemmed from Shibai Otsutsuki’s abilities, from Karma and Omnipotence to Prescience, all of which have proven to be instrumental in accelerating Boruto Uzumaki’s growth and driving most of the conflict in the Boruto series.
That said, Shinjutsu is a god-level power exclusive to the Otsutsuki Clan and those characters who awakened it after having Shibai Otsutsuki’s DNA implanted into their bodies. As fans know, Boruto and Kawaki are Shinjutsu users, as are Eida and Daemon. These characters are leagues above others, all thanks to the powerful Shinjutsu they possess.
Naruto: All New Boruto Dojutsu, Explained
Boruto has introduced new Dojutsu. Some are more unique than others.
Omnipotence Is the Strongest Shinjutsu
Current User: Eida
It’s no secret that Omnipotence is an almighty power capable of creating worlds. Anything that the user desires can be achieved or materialized through the power of Omnipotence. If the user wants someone to fall in love with them, the Omnipotence can easily grant this desire.
However, in Eida’s case, she wasn’t a genuine Otsutsuki, so her control over Omnipotence is limited. In other words, Eida can’t activate Omnipotence at will, effectively nerfing the shinjutsu at least for now.
As shown in Boruto, Omnipotence was the shinjutsu that reversed Boruto and Kawaki’s positions for quite a long time now. The effects of the shinjutsu had a wide range, altering everyone’s memories of Kawaki and Boruto.
Karma Is an Immortality-Based Shinjutsu
Current Users: Boruto, Kawaki, Momoshiki
Karma is an immortality-based shinjutsu that allows an Otsutsuki to resurrect over and over again. It manifests as a seal that contains an Otsutsuki’s data and consciousness, enabling them to overwrite a compatible vessel and be reborn. Momoshiki and Isshiki used Karma in their attempt to take over Boruto and Kawaki’s respective bodies but later failed in the process due to unforeseen events.
Now, the power of Karma has a different application in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, wherein Boruto and Kawaki activate it not for resurrection but as a source of overwhelming power. It also gives them access to Otsutsuki abilities, further enhancing their combat capabilities.
Reflection Uses the Opponent’s Power and Killing Intent
Current User: Daemon
Reflection is a busted shinjutsu that prevents direct contact between the user and their attacker. The power of Reflection depends on the opponent’s strength and killing intent, as the more they want to kill the wielder, the more the shinjutsu amplifies its repelling capabilities. It basically turns an opponent’s power against them.
Daemon is the current user of Reflection, and he has been untouchable for quite a while now. Code was the first to taste the power of Daemon’s reflection, and the effects were outstanding. Daemon can even reflect Code’s killing intent, aside from his actual attacks.
Daemon can only use Reflection while his palms touch another person. However, this may not be the case anymore, as more sightings of Daemon using Reflection without touching another person continue to increase in Boruto: TBV.
Daikokuten Traps Enemies in a Timeless Dimension
Current User: Kawaki
Daikokuten is a terrifying shinjutsu that allows the user to trap enemies in another dimension where time doesn't flow. Originally wielded by Isshiki Otsutsuki, the power has long been inherited by Kawaki through Karma, allowing him to send Naruto and Hinata to another dimension with ease.
Inside the Daikokuten dimension, Naruto won’t age, let alone die from starvation. He is not allowed to train himself and grow stronger, unless Kishimoto and Ikemoto decide to spice things up by giving him a new jutsu in secret.
For enemies with super regeneration and needing sealing, the Daikokuten is one of the most effective shinjutsu. This shinjutsu will be effective as long as they don’t possess the ability to warp themselves out of the other dimension, or they are fast enough to avoid it.
Sukunahikona Is an Ocular Shinjutsu
Current User: Kawaki
Sukunahikona is a playful shinjutsu that allows the wielder to shrink objects and instantaneously return those objects to their original size. It can also be applied to the user’s body, enabling them to shrink themselves for evasive maneuvers, sneak attacks, or slipping through tight spaces. Except for living beings, Sukunahikona can also be used on energy- and chakra-based substances.
Sukunahikona is a difficult shinjutsu to counter, so much so that it even overwhelmed Sasuke and Naruto when Isshiki Otsutsuki used it against them. Now, under Kawaki’s possession, he takes full advantage of its versatility, using it for both offense and defense, as shown when he was fighting Jura in the Land of the Wind.
Claw Mark Creates Portals
Current Users: Code, Shinju Clones
Claw Mark isn’t exactly an offensive shinjutsu, but when used strategically, it easily allows the wielder to carry out sneak attacks. Basically, this shinjutsu creates portals in the form of black bands, which the wielder can easily manipulate to instantly traverse space and ambush opponents without warning.
As long as the wielder marked a place or a target with the Claw Mark, they can emerge out of the black bands. Code and the Shinju Clones usually use Claw Marks for surprise attacks and unexpected escapes. They can even transport another person along with them, making it a highly versatile shinjutsu.
Prescience Delivers Multiple Future Outcomes
Current User: Kashin Koji
Prescience, otherwise known as Ten Directions, is a utility shinjutsu that grants the wielder foresight and multiple future outcomes. In other words, prescience allows the wielder to see into the future and anticipate events before they occur.
Kashin Koji has been taking advantage of prescience in the story, using it to guide his actions and decisions. He also extends the benefits of prescience to Boruto Uzumaki, allowing him to avoid fatal outcomes.
It is an incredibly useful shinjutsu, but just like Eida, Kashin Koji has limited control over it. He can’t access the shinjutsu at will, and his visions usually come weekly. Still, with Prescience, Kashin Koji was able to accelerate Boruto’s training, exploit the weakness of his enemies, and create an effective course of action against Jura and the Shinju Clones.
