Earlier in 2025, it was confirmed that the Black Clover anime would return for its fifth season. Despite no mention of a release date, fans were content with the fact that their favorite anime series would return at some point in the future. Now, after months of waiting, it has been revealed that the Black Clover anime will return in 2026. Once again, the anime hasn't shared too many details about the project, but at least now there is no reason for fans to be anxious.
The information regarding the release date was shared during Jump Festa 2026, and it was accompanied by a new key visual and a teaser trailer. The teaser featured Asta, Yuno, Yami Sukehiro, and Nacht Faust, as these characters will be at the crux of attention. Viewers can expect to see the quartet in action a lot more than the rest of the cast.
Black Clover Is One Of The Best Studio Pierrot Projects
Moving on to the production, it has been confirmed that the Black Clover anime will be handled by Studio Pierrot. Although the studio's record is not entirely flawless, it has really knocked the ball out of the park with its last few projects. So, there is a good chance that Black Clover Season 5 will be the best one to date.

When it comes to the release date, fans can expect Black Clover's fifth season to be released after the premiere of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Arc. Therefore, the new season will either be released as part of the Summer 2026 lineup or the Fall 2026 lineup. It wouldn't make sense for the studio to release two big projects in the same month, although it is not entirely impossible either.

Studio Pierrot has not shared any details about the length of the new season, but considering that the anime is coming back after a five-year absence, it shouldn't be a short one. Fans have waited for almost half a decade to see Asta and the rest of the characters back in action, so to give them just 10–12 episodes would be a grave injustice. Hopefully, Studio Pierrot has planned at least 24–26 episodes for the fifth season. If the studio is worried about the time crunch, then it can divide it into two cours, and release both within the same year.
Studio Pierrot Needs To Stick With The Current Pacing
Studio Pierrot needs to maintain the pacing for the Black Clover anime that it has set. At the beginning of the series, the pacing was extremely problematic. The anime adapted one chapter per episode and sometimes a few more pages from the next chapter. However, in the current era, the pace feels underwhelming. In fact, all the big-name anime have stuck with adapting several chapters in an episode. So, Studio Pierrot needs to stick with it and cover multiple chapters in an episode. Of course, it shouldn't rush through the chapters but rather adapt enough so that the pacing doesn't seem off.
Boruto Anime's Future Is In Jeopardy
As previously stated, the Boruto anime has always been polarizing. Avid fans tried to like it, but after months of filler content, even they had to give up. The main problem with the adaptation was that there was never enough content for the anime to be a weekly release. The Boruto manga is monthly, so throughout the year it releases 12 chapters. On the other hand, the anime was weekly, which meant it was releasing over 40 episodes (factoring in any breaks, otherwise the count would be 52). So, it's clear as day why the Boruto anime was set up for failure. Hopefully, if the anime returns in the coming years, it will be seasonal rather than weekly.
