The era of shinobi has changed drastically in the Boruto series, even more so in the new sequel manga, Two Blue Vortex, and this has been made apparent by Kishimoto and Ikemoto over the years. However, the core values of the shinobi remain the same as ever. The world that exists today was built by powerful ninjas who came long ago and etched their names in the history books. One of those legendary ninjas was Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage of Konoha who was almost peerless in his time.
Minato’s genius was such that he became one of the youngest Hokage in the story, and on top of that, he was one of the most powerful ninjas of all time. Having singlehandedly ended the Third Great Ninja War, Minato became a hero both in the village and among the fans. His likes will most certainly never be seen again, however, Boruto is slowly prepping up his true heir. This new successor of Minato will most likely never be as good a character as him, but he's the closest thing to him since his death. As most fans probably know already, this shinobi is none other than the son of the Seventh Hokage and the protagonist of the series, Boruto Uzumaki.
Boruto Uzumaki Is The True Successor Of The Fourth Hokage
The Fourth Hokage was a legendary ninja who is spoken of with great respect in the ninja world. His skill was absolutely immense, and fans know very well that replicating him or living up to the standard he set is difficult, but Boruto Uzumaki seems to be doing it already. Fans know very well that Boruto has mastered the Rasengan, which was created by Minato Namikaze already. He did so at quite a young age and on top of that, he even created his own variants of the technique, such as Rasegan Uzuhiko. This is something that Minato himself would be proud of.

But, that certainly isn't all. Boruto Uzumaki also took the signature technique of Minato and created his own similar, but inferior, Jutsu. As most fans would know already, this is the Flying Thunder God Jutsu.
Boruto Learned A Variant Of The Flying Thunder God
To be precise, Boruto's Jutsu isn't exactly the Flying Thunder God. However, it is a rudimentary variant of the technique that's quite similar. Boruto infuses various metals with his chakra and then envisions their shape. Once the chakra is tracked, he can immediately teleport to it. Since it doesn't involve the usage of a teleportation seal, the Jutsu is far inferior and slower, but it's impressive regardless.

Just Like Minato, Boruto Is A Genius
Perhaps the thing that makes Boruto Uzumaki the perfect successor of the Fourth Hokage is the fact that they're both geniuses. Minato was a true genius. Be it topping the academy, creating new Jutsu of his own, or countering abilities within seconds, Minato could do it all. Boruto Uzumaki is somewhat similar. He hasn't already mastered multiple nature transformations, mastered Kenjutsu, created his own techniques and now, he's even learning Jutsu of the Fourth Hokage.
Clearly, Boruto is an immensely talented genius. The best part is that he has yet to reach his peak, which means he'll continue to grow. Out of all the geniuses that exist in the world of Boruto, it goes without saying that Boruto Uzumaki is the best of them all. He's truly earned himself the honor of being called Minato's successor, and fans know that he'll continue to be that for years to come.
