This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

The Boruto series has introduced fans to many new incredible powers, such as the power of Karma, and, of course, the introduction of the Otsutsuki, among other things. It goes without saying that with a new generation of characters, Boruto needed a new direction as well as a new power system. Simply relying on the old power system was not good enough for a new manga, and that needed an overhaul.

Thankfully, the Boruto series has done incredibly well in this regard and introduced powers like the Karma and, of course, now even human-Tailed Beasts. With the latest direction in which Boruto is headed, fans can rest assured that the Tailed Beasts are going to be incredibly relevant once again, and that they will be brought back into the story soon enough. They have been cut out of the main plot of Boruto for far too long, but in the near future, they are set to return, so fans should get ready to welcome them once again.

The Tailed Beasts Are Yet To Be Important In Boruto

The Tailed Beasts Are Yet To Be Important In Boruto
  • The Tailed Beasts Were Useless In Boruto
  • Their Importance Will Increase Very Soon

When the Naruto series ended, the Tailed Beasts maintained their incredible importance. It can be said that the Tailed Beasts were by far the most important power system in the entirety of the Naruto series. That is precisely why when Boruto began and the Tailed Beasts were not given the attention that they deserved, it was rather strange for all the fans to see. Tailed Beasts are at the core of the entire franchise, and the main character Naruto Uzumaki derives all his powers from these monstrously powerful beasts.

This power is immense. It should definitely surpass his. But the drawbacks are too great. You see, the fact that it drains our lifespan is the key here. Since chakra is connected, the power that comes into being from the bits of our lives also shaves off his life when in contact. That is the power of Baryon Mode. — Kurama to Naruto Uzumaki

Yet Boruto moved in a different direction with Otsutsuki Karma, and fans know that the main character, as well as the secondary character, Kawaki, bears this power as well. What's even more surprising to fans is the fact that the Boruto series did not give any importance to Tailed Beasts at all. The only time another Tailed Beast other than Kurama was highlighted in the story was when Momoshiki struck and his first target was Gyuki. It was stated by Momoshiki that Gyuki did not really have enough chakra for him, and his target was then shifted to Kurama. With time, Kurama was phased out of existence, and in the first part of Boruto, the Tailed Beast remained completely irrelevant.

Two Blue Vortex Could Make The Tailed Beasts Important Once Again

The exclusion of the Tailed Beasts from the main power system of the series was one of the major criticisms of Boruto that the fans had. Thankfully, in Two Blue Vortex, this concern has been addressed by the author. The Tailed Beasts are relevant once again in the Boruto series, and this is down to a new villain that has been introduced, and that is Jura. With Jura, the Boruto series has taken a very unique direction with the introduction of the concept of human-Tailed Beasts.

The human-Tailed Beasts were created by Code at first. Essentially, Code used the power of his Claw Marks on the Tentails which gave rise to the Claw Grimes. Once these claw grimes fed on chakra, they gave rise to the Shinju.

Among the Shinju, there is one special individual known as Jura, and he is the incarnation of the Tentails itself. Simply put, the Ten Tails given sentience, complete sense of semblance and train of thought is what human-Tailed Beasts are.

After Jura, the story went on to introduce another human-Tailed Beast to the fans, and that is Himawari Uzumaki. When Naruto used Baryon Mode, fans knew that Kurama ended up dying. Most fans expected Kurama to pop up in a random location at some point later down the line, but that did not happen.

Instead, Kurama integrated with Himawari and essentially became one with her. Himawari is not a Jinchuriki of Kurama, and similarly, Kurama is not a Tailed Beast stored inside Himawari. Instead, they are one being, and Himawari is a human-Tailed Beast.

You don't understand a thing. For you are no ordinary shinobi. You're even a little different from Jinchuriki, those who host Bijuu inside them. You are human, and yet, if anything, you're more similar to me and Jura. — Kurama to Himawari Uzumaki in Boruto

Human-Tailed Beasts Are Likely The Next Step For The Naruto Franchise

  • Stronger than Jinchuriki
  • More Exciting Approach To Tailed Beast Power

As soon as the concept of human-Tailed Beasts became clear in the Boruto series, the author went on to highlight the fact that they are far stronger than the Jinchuriki. Their powers are on a completely different level, and the synchronization they have with the human is completely different as well. This is why Himawari has the potential to surpass Naruto Uzumaki as a user of Kurama's powers, and that is very exciting.

At the same time, now, the door has been opened to the return of other Tailed Beasts in the series as well. Fans know that the remaining Tailed Beasts are scattered all over the world, but they might have formed unique bonds with humans during this period of time and potentially even become one with them. Tailed Beasts creating bonds with humans could lead to the creation of more human-Tailed Beasts, and they would be very important for the future of the world if an Otsutsuki invasion happens at some point later down the line.

Even Killer Bee, who has the powers of Gyuki, could end up passing on the Tailed Beast to a successor, and this successor might become a human-Tailed Beast as well. With the concept of human-Tailed Beasts, the Jinchuriki will essentially come back only in a different state where they are even stronger than simply the Vessels. This is a very exciting step in the right direction for the Boruto franchise, and fans absolutely can't wait to see what Kishimoto and Ikemoto do with this next.

Naruto Could Also Gain Tailed Beast Powers In The Future

  • Naruto's Return Is Highly Anticipated

Speaking of the human-Tailed Beasts, fans should keep in mind that with the return of these beasts in a new state, Naruto Uzumaki has a chance at gaining new powers again. Naruto is friends with all the Tailed Beasts, and he could easily seek them out. With Kurama having passed over to Himawari, Naruto might seek the other Tailed Beasts out after his return and forge a new bond with them.

If he does that, then these Tailed Beasts might eventually assimilate into him and become human-Tailed Beasts themselves. Perhaps this is the only way that Naruto could become relevant again. Maybe an even bigger threat will target the Earth, and then Naruto's fusion with the Tailed Beasts will be required by the story. In either case, this is an exciting step for Naruto Uzumaki as well because it gives him the chance to be relevant majorly in the story once again.
