A Tingling is a level in Braid that many players will move on from and come back to later, due to it using a mechanic that players will not be very experienced in. Glowing green objects will not rewind when using your time powers, and can be manipulated to have different elements present from how the level started.
Obtaining both puzzle pieces in A Tingling relies on the player understanding this in different ways. All the levels from the original game are featured in Braid, Anniversary Edition.
7 Best Philosophical Puzzle Games
There are plenty of puzzle games out there for gamers to try, but not all of them embrace philosophical themes. Here are the best that do.
How To Get The First Puzzle Piece For A Tingling In Braid
What makes this puzzle so deceptive is its more complex use of glowing green objects so early in the game when players are not yet used to them. There are 2 glowing green objects for this first puzzle piece, which are a platform and a lever that controls it — this means they will not be affected by your time powers. Above the player will be an enemy with a key. Make your way right until you come to a ladder you can climb up. Head all the way to the top platform and then head left to where the enemy with the key is. Jump on this enemy and get the key.
Now stand on the edge of the platform above the glowing green platform and wait there for a couple seconds — this will be where you will reverse time back to. Retrace your path back to the top of the first ladder you climbed in the level. Head left, climbing down the following ladders to a lever you can pull. After pulling this lever, you will need to rewind time back to when you were standing on the ledge. Unlike the puzzle from world 3-4, you will need to accelerate the speed at which time rewinds in order to make it back. You are able to increase/decrease how fast you can rewind time by pressing the W and S keys on the keyboard, or the top shoulder buttons of a controller — such as L1/R1 or LB/RB.
This allows you to return to the edge before the glowing green platform starts to move away from it. You can use this platform to reach the ladder to get the first puzzle piece. Head to the far right side and use the glowing green platform to reach the locked door — which will open with the key you got earlier.
How To Get The Second Puzzle Piece For A Tingling In Braid
As stated in the developer commentary, no matter how fast you are, you will never be able to get the key, open the locked door, and get the puzzle piece before it gets blocked off. This is because getting it comes from completing the second part of this level. From the locked door, head up the ladder and to the right. Dodge the fireballs while climbing, and make your way to the second ladder to climb down. Head left and climb to the other side where there is a lever you can pull. Doing so will raise a glowing green platform — stand on this platform to make Tim glow green.
Use an accelerated rewind and you will see that Tim will not be affected by the rewinding of time. Rewind all the way back to the start of the level to reset the wall that blocks off the puzzle piece. You will now have enough time to climb your way back to the key before it is blocked off. Once you collect it, head to the far right to finish the level.
