How To Get All Puzzle Pieces For Cascade In Braid

Cascade is a level in the game Braid. The level can be a tad daunting, as there is a lot of very precise movements you will need to make to reach various parts of the map. A key element will be in slowing down time so that you can achieve much higher jumps, but also to increase how much time is available to avoid fireball impact.

The level also returns in Braid, Anniversary Edition, along with all the other puzzles from the original. You can enable developer commentary to understand the process that went into designing the level, but it is best to enable this after completing the game.

How To Get The First Puzzle Piece for Cascade In Braid

As you enter this level, start moving to the right. Climb up the first ladder you come to and head left to find a cannon shooting trolls. Place a ring at the midpoint of the cannon and spike pit, then stand on top of the cannon.

Jump onto the top of one of the trolls and then once the cannon fires another one of them out, jump on that troll to get a high jump that can get you to the platform above — similar to how you need a high jump to complete World 4-4. Head left and grab the first puzzle piece.

How To Get The Second Puzzle Piece for Cascade In Braid

Pick up your ring and head to the right where you will see trolls walking off the edge into fireballs. Place your ring at the edge of this ledge and jump on a troll to get to the platform with the cannon. Once a troll is about to walk off the ledge where your ring is, jump down from the ledge with the cannon and bounce off the troll to get enough momentum to reach the ledge with the key. This can take a couple of attempts by mixing time control mechanics.

Pick up the key and your ring and make your way to the top of the cannon that is killing all of the trolls. Place your ring on top of this cannon and this will slow down the fireballs enough so that trolls can walk all the way to the spike pit on the lowest level. To get the second puzzle piece, jump from the cannon you put your ring on and bounce off of a troll.

How To Get The Third Puzzle Piece for Cascade In Braid

Once a troll is clear from being killed by the cannon, pick up your ring and drop down to the same level as the troll. As the troll drops to the level with the spike pit, jump from the ledge the troll falls from and bounce off of its head to reach the cannon above the spike pit. Place your ring on this cannon to slow down its rate of fire.

Follow behind a fireball and unlock the door with the key. Pull the lever on the other side and wait for a fireball. Jump over the fireball before making a dash to get back to the ladder before the next fireball in order to escape the puzzle. Climb up the ladder and head left to collect the final puzzle piece.
