Elevator Action is a level in Braid that pays homage to a platform shooter of the same name that was released in the early 1980s. It will test your ability to think using the game’s ring mechanic — which causes time to slow down the closer it is to where the ring is placed.
The main element of this level will be in dodging projectiles by slowing them down, but it will also have you thinking of how to slow down other objects to create windows of opportunity in order to collect all the puzzle pieces. All levels from the original game are also featured in Braid, Anniversary Edition.
7 Best Philosophical Puzzle Games
There are plenty of puzzle games out there for gamers to try, but not all of them embrace philosophical themes. Here are the best that do.
How To Get The First Puzzle Piece For Elevator Action In Braid
Make your way to the right and climb up the short ladder by a cannon. Run behind the fireballs being shot, and make your way to the top where you will be able to pull a lever. Use it to lower the platform and get the key at the bottom — there is a bunny that will pop up once you get close. Use the lever at the bottom to raise the platform back to the top.
Place the time slowing ring on the edge of the platform and then run to the far right of the top lever. As you pull the lever, start making your way down. This will slow down the speed at which cannons will shoot their fireballs, and give you enough time to make it back down safely. Afterward, you can pick your ring back up from underneath the platform it is sitting on. Climb the ladder to the left and unlock the door with the key to get the first puzzle piece.
Puzzle Games You Have To Be A Genius To Complete
While there are dozens of puzzle games for fans to choose from, some of these titles are nearly impossible to complete.
How To Get The Second Puzzle Piece For Elevator Action In Braid
Head to the far right side of the map where the exit door is. Before the door, there will be a ladder that you can climb. Climb to the top and stand on the platform under the canon where there is also a lever. Place the ring down and then pull the lever. This will cause a platform with a ladder attached to it to fall down — manipulating green platforms has been done in similar ways such as The Ground Beneath Her Feet.
Stand on the right edge of this platform and Tim will glow green, making him unaffected by time manipulation effects. Use rewind so that the platform reverses back up to the top while Tim is unaffected. You will now need to time the canon fires and jump over to the second puzzle piece. After you collect it, use the exit door and then come back in. This will prevent you from losing the puzzle piece if you rewind too far back.

How To Get The Third Puzzle Piece For Elevator Action In Braid
Once you come back into the room, use the lever to drop the platform down again. Place your ring on this platform and go back to the lever to pull the platform back up. Pull the lever once more so that the second platform has enough time to make its way under the platform with the ring. Permanently augmenting level arrangements like this is very akin to solving the level called Irreversible.
Pick up your ring and climb up the ladder to where the top lever is located. Pull this lever to cause a ladder near the last puzzle piece to drop down. Climb up this ladder to reach the glowing green platform. Stand on this platform to make Tim glow green and start rewinding time. Rewind it to the point that the ladder is just about to drop down.
Run from the glowing green platform onto the ladder and rewind time so that the ladder gets pulled up while Tim is still glowing green. Then jump from the ladder to the final piece. Alternatively, you can use the ring to slow down the ladder to have enough time.
