Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged features several challenging puzzles, but none are as infamous as the goat puzzle George must solve when he travels to the fictional village of Lochmarne, Ireland. George is there to gather more information about the Templars and more.
George's investigation leads him to the castle doors, a badly stacked bale of hay, and a farmer who refuses to leave. Before the battle of wits with the goat, George must get past the farmer and the goat to access the castle's crypt.

How To Get Past The Farmer In Broken Sword
You can speak to the farmer guarding the haystack as soon as George arrives in Ireland. However, he won't move until after specific story events unfold that lead to Fitzgerald getting hit by a car and kidnapped. After speaking to young Maguire outside the pub about the accident, George should walk up the hill to the right of the pub toward the castle.
Approach the farmer who is engrossed in his book while sitting on an unstable-looking stack of hay against the castle wall. Exhaust all dialog options, ask about the sports car, and continue discussing his nephew Fitzgerald until he agrees to leave, allowing "George to guard the hay."
With the farmer out of the way, climb up the haystack until George reaches the top. Then, access George's inventory, select the Sewer Key, and use it on the hole in the wall so that George can scale it. After a short cutscene, George will encounter the aggressive goat.
How To Solve The Goat Puzzle In Broken Sword
Even though Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is a relaxing point-and-click game, outsmarting the goat takes a little bit of timing. The timing aspect of the challenging puzzle is what confused so many fans back in 1996, and without magazine guides, many had to work it out for themselves or give up.
If George tries to walk past the goat and get to the crypt on the right side, it will knock him to the ground every time. On the left side of the screen, there is a plough, and if George gets too close, the goat will attack there, too.
To outsmart the goat, click on the crypt to the right of the screen, and once the goat hits George, quickly click on the plough on the left side. George will get to his feet, make a run to the left side of the screen, and trap the goat on the plough when it charges at him, making it safe to move into the crypt. After trapping the goat, you will be awarded with the Goat - The Myth, The Legend trophy/achievement.
