Build-a-Bear and Pokemon have unveiled their newest collaboration, adding Cubone to the line-up of special Pokemon plushies. The two companies have been having a beneficial partnership for years now, introducing many favorites from the Pokemon series into the line-up of huggable, customizable, and talking plush toys.
When it comes to Pokemon, there are plenty of choices for plush toys. Whether fans of the series want to lounge on a giant Snorlax plush or purchase something smaller and more practical, there are official plushies and numerous fan-made ones available of just about every Pokemon. Build-a-Bear Pokemon plushes, however, are popular not only for their quality, but for the accessories included with the Pokemon that let fans dress them up.
Pokemon GO Teases New Poke Ball for Upcoming Event
Pokemon GO is set to introduce a seventh Poke Ball type in November, coinciding with the global launch of the Wild Area event.
Now Cubone is joining the line of Pokemon Build-a-Bears. Fans of Cubone can pick up an exclusive Cubone Plush bundle that includes Cubone itself, including its skull helmet and bone club, as well as a poncho, hat, blanket set, and a sound chip that allows Cubone to talk. Cubone can wear the included accessories, which feature a pair of Poke Ball designs, or it can be displayed without them, as one would expect the Pokemon to look in the wild of the games. The bundle will set fans back $70.50, which is about on-par with average Pokemon Build-a-Bear releases.
The Pokemon Build-a-Bear Collection Continues to Expand
Cubone is an iconic Gen 1 Pokemon, and numerous creatures from the original Pokemon Red and Blue game have gotten the Build-a-Bear treatment. However, the collaboration has released Pokemon from numerous generations, including Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the series' latest mainline release. In 2024 alone, Build-a-Bear plushies of Charizard, Bidoof, Munchlax, and Fuecoco have been introduced. With that said, there's no telling what Pokemon Build-a-Bear will come next. The companies sometimes drop teasers in advance, but Pokemon fans generally just have to wait and see if their favorites join the line-up.
Fans of Cubone and Build-a-Bear toys should consider picking up the Pokemon soon, as many Build-a-Bear collaborations with Pokemon sell out. Whether a Pokemon completely sells out will differ from creature to creature, but Cubone's lasting popularity regularly spawns fanart, redesigns, and other forms of tributes to the classic Ground-type. The rapidly approaching holiday shopping season will also play a role, as buyers will not only be picking up Cubone as a gift, but resellers are likely to scoop up some of the available stock, as well.
