A new wave of content arrived earlier this week for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare thanks to season 3 finally arriving. While the multiplayer portion of the game received a wealth of new content from maps, skins, weapons, and the latest operator, the wildly popular Battle Royale mode Warzone also got an update as well. The highly requested Quads mode made its debut, though its arrival caused a surprise change for fans.

Logging into Call of Duty: Warzone following the hefty season 3 update, fans were confused to see that Trios had been effectively replaced by the new four player Quads mode. As one of the more popular variants of Warzone, this sudden and unexpected change left many fans upset especially considering that this change was not first communicated from Infinity Ward or Activision.

Regardless if the change was unintentional or not, Infinity Ward took to Twitter to announce that a new playlist update had been rolled out earlier today across all platforms. The big change is that Warzone Trios has returned as a selectable option once more. Better yet, the other options like Solos, Plunder Quads, and Quads are also still available, so nothing was ultimately replaced this time. However, it's unclear if this is intended to be a rotating option or if this is simply a temporary change.

In addition to playlist changes, today's update also seems to have fixed the issues with the UDT Ghost bundle that were offered with the purchase of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. Infinity Ward confirmed the fix in a separate Tweet and many players who originally never received the digital content are starting to find it available and unlocked in the menus. Following the release of that game, Xbox One players in particular seemed to be the most impacted by this unfortunate bug.

While the return of Trios will no doubt make a lot of Warzone players happy, many responses to the original Tweet continue to call for the release of a Duos mode. While neither Activision or Infinity Ward have confirmed this is coming, many fans remain convinced it not only exists but it'll be added during Season 3. The speculation surfaced after dataminers came across the information buried in the game files. More evidence surfaced recently as official promotional materials leaked early for Duos, though they were quickly taken down.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
