The Call of Duty franchise has been incredibly successful and in the aftermath of the commercially triumphant remake of Modern Warfare, many players have wondered what the series will produce next. Fans of the series have already begun trying to piece the evidence together to find out the setting and themes in the new game, but very little has been confirmed. However, leaked pre-alpha footage of what is rumored to be Call of Duty 2020 has now surfaced.

There are plenty of rumors about Call of Duty 2020, but at the moment these discussions do not have any significant support. The latest footage may help players further their investigation into the setting of the upcoming game. With that said, many fans who have seen the two-minute footage have had concerns about the engine the game will use and the appearance of the game in its pre-alpha footage.

The short footage (which has since been deleted) shows a player running around a tank factory in what is said to be an appropriately titled "Tanks" map, yet the textures and final details for the map still appear missing. This has sparked concerns about the engine used but most players believe that the footage is from the Modern Warfare engine, although it is from the early development stages, and as a result, it does not have the rich visuals of the latest Call of Duty installment. Viewers also noted that there was no sliding or use of Dead Silence, although this footage was apparently collected from a 45-minute demonstration of gameplay and these features may have occurred elsewhere. Despite a short two minute clip, some players have managed to discern tangible facts.

The "Diaylser" logo which appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, can be spooted, and this seemingly confirms Treyarch is developing the game as has been rumored. For many, this makes it clear that the next Call of Duty title will be another Black Ops game, and the gun used in the game alluded to a specific era of war. The gun the player is carrying in the footage is an FN FNC Assualt Rifle, which was commonly used in the late seventies, meaning that the game is likely set during the Cold War.

Activision is currently removing the video from online sources and this seems to add credibility to the source of the footage. With that said, it seems that there is still plenty of work to be done in the game and it will be interesting to see how the final product turns out. There is a huge amount of expectation surrounding the next Call of Duty and many will hope that this pre-alpha footage evolves into another entertaining installment.
