A recent leak suggests that Call of Duty 2023 may introduce a brand-new Zombies mode, which has been highly anticipated by fans for a long time. It has been a couple of years since we have seen a full-fledged Zombies mode included in a Call of Duty title. Due to the lackluster response to the previous iteration, fans of the mode have been crying out for a proper version of the iconic mode to be included in a modern CoD game for years now.
The leak also provided additional information, including when we can expect to see this year’s Call of Duty game officially revealed and the anticipated release date. The excitement surrounding the Zombies mode is evident, and if it is indeed included in the next installment, the reveal event promises to be thrilling. The leak also originated from a fairly reliable source, lending credibility to its authenticity.
Insider Gaming reports that Call of Duty 2023 will feature a Zombies mode upon its release, but the exact nature of this mode remains unclear. There are reports indicating that the Zombies mode in this game will deviate from the traditional round-based format. This departure from the established formula received negative feedback when attempted by Sledgehammer Games in Call of Duty: Vanguard. As a result, there is speculation about the alternative approach the Zombies mode might take if it isn't round-based.
It is intriguing to note that Call of Duty 2023 is rumored to be another addition to the Modern Warfare series, serving as a sequel to last year's Modern Warfare 2. The Zombies mode is typically associated with the Black Ops games rather than the Modern Warfare series. To date, no Zombies mode has been included in a Modern Warfare title.
Infinity Ward, the developer behind Modern Warfare 2, decided not to incorporate a Zombies mode into last year's game, although the team does have a history with the mode. The studio did include a Zombies mode in 2016's Infinite Warfare. Although the game received mixed reviews, fans appreciated the studio's innovative approach to the Zombies universe, which was originally established by Treyarch. However, Call of Duty 2023 is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, and as previously mentioned, that team’s history with the Zombies game mode is unfortunately not remembered as fondly. Nonetheless, Sledgehammer Games did listen to community feedback and eventually introduced a round-based mode before the end of Vanguard's lifecycle.
According to the previously mentioned Insider Gaming leak, this year’s Call of Duty title is rumored to be unveiled in August, so hopefully all will be revealed then. If a Zombies mode is packaged into the game, it will make its launch in November even more exciting.
Call of Duty 2023 is in development.
