Summary
- Call of Duty 2024 will be led by Treyarch and is expected to be part of their successful Black Ops series, bringing a change from recent Modern Warfare releases.
- The game may be set during the Gulf War, exploring a conflict the franchise hasn't focused on before.
- Based on the release pattern of previous Call of Duty games, fans can expect the official reveal of the game in April or May, potentially tied to an in-game event for Warzone.
The annual release schedule of Call of Duty is still going strong, with 2024's installment to the iconic franchise being quite the change from its recent predecessors. It has been confirmed that 2024's CoD will be spearheaded by Treyarch, with many expecting the title to be a part of the studio's massively successful Black Ops series.
Other rumors point towards 2024's Call of Duty release being set during the Gulf War, exploring a conflict that the franchise has never explored in detail in the past. While more details surrounding the project are expected to be announced in the near future, the potential reveal date of the game is still unknown. Despite this, the formulaic structure that CoD releases usually abide by gives a fairly solid idea of when fans should expect 2024's game to be officially revealed.

2024's Call of Duty Reveal Should Follow the Same Pattern as the Modern Warfare Reboot
Despite being led by a different studio, the recent formula of Call of Duty reveals has been a popular one, and there is no reason for 2024's title to not use the same approach as the likes of Modern Warfare 2 and MW3. Taking a look back at the reveal dates of the Modern Warfare reboot trilogy gives a great ballpark figure as to when fans can expect 2024's release to finally get some official reveal content:
|
Modern Warfare (2019) |
Modern Warfare 2 (2022) |
Modern Warfare 3 (2023) |
|
|---|---|---|---|
|
Reveal Date |
May 30, 2019 |
April 28, 2022 |
August 17, 2023 |
It seems most logical that April and May will be the prime candidates for a Call of Duty 2024 reveal, as Modern Warfare and MW2 followed more traditional development cycles when compared to MW3. The extremely tight development turnaround for Modern Warfare 3 will have definitely impacted its reveal date, which was several months after its two franchise predecessors, and it is reported that 2024's CoD is being developed without such a pressing time constraint.
It has been confirmed that 2024's Call of Duty has been in development since Treyarch's last major project for the franchise, which was 2020's Black Ops Cold War. This already gives 2024's CoD a solid four years of active development, compared to the roughly 16 months of development that Modern Warfare 3 was afforded.
Call of Duty 2024 May Have an Earlier Warzone Reveal Event Than Other Titles
The amount of development that 2024's CoD has already received could easily mean an earlier reveal date, as the game will be in a more complete state earlier on than more recent franchise projects. However, it is also likely that the reveal for 2024 will be tied to an in-game event for Warzone, which has been the case for many recent releases for the IP. CoD reveals tied to Warzone events usually come around August, however, as was the case with Vanguard and Modern Warfare 3.
Despite this pattern, there's a lot of attention on 2024's CoD due to the franchise's unusual release of two consecutive Modern Warfare games. Activision may want to gear fans up for the upcoming change to Black Ops sooner rather than later. With 2024's longer development time and stark change from more recent releases, a reveal in or around May with its own Warzone tie-in event seems the most logical, as things stand.
