The post-launch content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is still going strong, with Treyarch recently announcing some big plans for the game's highly anticipated fourth season. As expected, the roadmap for Season 4 of Black Ops 6 involves plenty of content spread across Warzone, core multiplayer, and Zombies, with fans of all of CoD's modern experiences having some big things to look forward to.

Of course, the fresh multiplayer content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is some of the most anticipated for Season 4, with a hefty set of new maps, modes, weapons, operators, scorestreaks, and blueprints being in store. The confirmed maps for Season 4 have already drawn some attention, with Season 4 continuing Black Ops 6's penchant for remastered maps from previous Black Ops titles. Season 4's remastered map is one of the most memorable experiences from Black Ops 3, furthering a clear trend of representation that should mean that the next remastered BO6 map will hail from 2020's Cold War.

Black Ops 6 is crossing over with upcoming film Ballerina, but the collab makes the absence of modern one action icon feel huge.

Black Ops 6's Remastered Approach is Even Clearer With Season 4

Remastered maps have been a divisive but consistent aspect of the modern Call of Duty content strategy, with the long history of the franchise having given way to some iconic maps over the years. While some fans feel that completely original and engaging experiences should always be the goal of a modern CoD entry, some recent titles have not shied away from re-purposing the most memorable multiplayer experiences of years gone by.

This was most evident in 2023's Modern Warfare 3 launch map pool, with the game's launch map pool consisting entirely of remastered maps from 2009's MW2, sparking conversations around recycled content and how the different pacing and feel of modern CoD can taint maps that come from a different era. While Black Ops 6 has been praised for the way it honors the rich history of the sub-franchise, a lot of its multiplayer content is original, allowing for a small, tasteful selection of remastered multiplayer maps to really shine.

As expected, BO6 immediately ticked off a remaster with arguably the most famous map from the series, with Nuketown once again being re-purposed from its original portrayal in 2010's Black Ops. Moving chronologically through the sub-franchise, Black Ops 6 would later offer some representation from 2012's Black Ops 2 with the introduction of the Grind map as a remaster, using the map to promote collaborations with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as well as the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise.

The original Black Ops was the source of even more remastered content for Black Ops 6, thanks to Season 3, with the iconic Firing Range map being added to the title.

Cold War's Remastered Representation in Black Ops 6's Future is All But Confirmed

Black Ops 4 has already provided its own inspiration to BO6 in the form of the Hacienda remaster, which launched alongside the Season 1 Reloaded update, with Black Ops 3 finally leaving its mark on the title with the recently announced plans for Season 4. Treyarch has confirmed that the Fringe map will be remastered and added to BO6 as an in-season addition for Season 4, leaving Black Ops Cold War as the only BO title left unrepresented.

It seems very likely that Treyarch will complete this pattern of representation in one of Black Ops 6's future seasons, with Cold War still having a handful of memorable maps despite its divisive reputation. Cold War maps like Armada, Garrison, and Moscow could translate very well as remastered experiences in Black Ops 6, giving the title a wide range of maps to choose from, completing Black Ops 6's tasteful testament to the long history of the Black Ops IP.
