Summary
- Aim assist changes were made to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for an even playing field.
- Aim Assist Type was removed in response to player feedback.
- Players seem pleased with Treyarch's handling of the Black Ops 6 beta, despite some complaints.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 received a major change to aim assist, according to Treyarch associate design director Mike Scronce. The changes to aim assist can be felt in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 early access beta, which began on Friday, August 30.
Releasing on October 25, Black Ops 6 will feature an immersive campaign set after the events of Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch's signature round-based Zombies mode, and a comprehensive multiplayer mode with a traditional Prestige system. On August 28, the Call of Duty NEXT event revealed many new details about the Zombies and multiplayer modes, including the Liberty Falls Zombies map and all multiplayer maps available at Black Ops 6's launch. What's more, one of the Black Ops 6 maps will be a new rendition of Nuketown, so players can expect frantic close-quarters combat in the new game. The previously revealed "Omnimovement" system will give players more control over their movements in close-quarters combat, and it appears the aim assist received major tweaks that will set Black Ops 6 apart from its predecessors.
In a reply to Twitter user JGODYT, associate design director Mike Scronce confirmed that tweaks have been made to aim assist in Black Ops 6, and "Aim Assist Type" has been removed. Scronce notes that this aim assist will "get everyone on a level playing field" in Black Ops 6 multiplayer. Exact details about the aim assist tweaks were not revealed, but Scronce confirms that Treyarch will reveal new details soon. The changes can be felt in the Black Ops 6 beta, as it appears that aim assist does not appear to hone onto targets as strongly compared to aim assist in past Call of Duty entries.

- Aim assist tweaks were made, according to associate director Mike Scronce.
- Aim Assist Type has been removed to promote an "even playing field for everyone."
- Activision and Treyarch will share more details about aim assist changes soon.
Many Black Ops 6 fans on Twitter appear to be excited and happy about the aim assist changes, while a few wish that aim assist was stronger. The community seems pleased with how Treyarch is handling Black Ops 6 multiplayer and the beta so far, but there are still aspects that players are criticizing the game for right now. For example, a few complaints pertain to some faulty spawn points and frame rate drops, which can be expected in a beta environment.
Players can get a feel of the aim assist change by playing in the Black Ops 6 early access beta, which is available until September 4 on all platforms. Just two days later, the open beta will be available for all players until September 9. Exclusive rewards may be earned in the Black Ops 6 beta by playing during both weekends and leveling up. Call of Duty fans may gain access to the Black Ops 6 beta by pre-ordering the game or redeeming a free code from Xfinity Rewards.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
