Summary

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will introduce Omnimovement, allowing players to sprint and dive backwards, sideways, and diagonally.
  • This feature cannot be turned off in any of the game's modes, including campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies.
  • Black Ops 6 will be released on October 25, with an open beta coming this August.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's new movement feature, Omnimovement, won't be able to be turned off by players who wish for a more traditional multiplayer experience. Omnimovement was revealed last month at the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, where it was shown to allow players to sprint and dive backwards, sideways, and diagonally, potentially opening up new ways to surprise opponents. It's been confirmed that Omnimovement will permeate all three modes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 - campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies - and will even be introduced to Warzone at some point post-launch.

A direct sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and the more recent Black Ops Cold War, Black Ops 6 promises plenty of content for Call of Duty fans to look forward to. Set in the early 90s surrounding the events of the Gulf War, Black Ops fans will see the return of Russell Adler alongside franchise icon Frank Woods. 16 original 90s-themed multiplayer maps will debut at launch, as well as two full Zombies maps ushering in the return of round-based Zombies for the first time since 2020's Black Ops Cold War.

Rumor: Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Could Bring Back Classic Feature

According to a new leak, a fan favorite feature may be returning to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 after being absent from recent games.

In the first episode of the brand-new Official Call of Duty Podcast, Call of Duty's senior director of communications, Stephanie Snowden, confirmed that Black Ops 6's exciting new Omnimovement system cannot be turned off in any of the game's three modes, including multiplayer. While bad news for some Call of Duty fans, Snowden went on to highlight one movement feature that players will have control over: Intelligent Movement. This system, while turned off by default, will give players a wide range of options that help minimize the amount of button or key inputs it takes to sprint and climb ledges, providing players a smoother way to move around the game's multiplayer maps.

Black Ops 6 Players Can't Turn Off Omnimovement

Call of Duty players who've grown accustomed to movement in recent installments might take issue with the lack of choice when it comes to Omnimovement, especially at higher levels in which players will need to learn the ins and outs of the new feature to stay on top. It's also worth noting that players who'd toggle Omnimovement off would be putting themselves at a notable disadvantage against players who can sprint and dive in eight different directions. Having players utilizing different movement systems could also create balancing issues. Black Ops 6's Omnimovement being mandatory isn't at all dissimilar from Call of Duty's jetpack system introduced in Advanced Warfare and prominently featured in two subsequent installments, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare.

Call of Duty fans can try Omnimovement for themselves when Black Ops 6' s open beta goes live in August. Beyond that, fans have only a few months to wait for the game's full launch on October 25. Notably, Xbox players will be able to download the full game on day one at no additional cost with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, a perk that's been made possible by Xbox's recent buyout of Activision Blizzard.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.

Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
