Activision has released official promotional images for Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone, confirming the return of two iconic weapons: the PPSH-41 submachine gun and the FN FAL assault rifle. The next season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone is scheduled to begin on January 28, bringing with it a plethora of new content, bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and much more.
Earlier this month, Treyarch Studios pulled back the curtain on the next Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. While revealing The Tomb, which will be released with Season 2 next week, Treyarch also teased the return of an "iconic" submachine gun. Fans were quick to speculate that this was a reference to the MP40, as it is often regarded as one of the best SMGs in Black Ops history. However, it looks like the MP40 won't be coming to Black Ops 6, at least not during Season 2, as a new promotional image confirms the "iconic" SMG being teased by Treyarch was the PPSH-41.
Rumor: Call of Duty 2026 Could Be Bringing Back DMZ
According to a new leak, Call of Duty 2026 will see the return of DMZ, an extraction mode introduced alongside 2022's Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 Key Art Reveals Returning Weapons
On January 21, the official Call of Duty Twitter account gave fans their first look at Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2. In one of the two new images, three operators can be seen smashing through the window of a high-rise building on Vondel. The operator on the far left can be seen wielding an FN FAL assault rifle, while the operator behind has a PPSH-41 submachine equipped. While Activision has yet to reveal the specifics of these weapons, such as if they will be available at launch or during the mid-season update, these images do appear to confirm that the two weapons are returning at some point during Season 2.
Season 2 is shaping up to be a make-or-break update for fans, as Call of Duty's player count has been drastically declining on Steam in recent weeks. Since the launch of Black Ops 6 in October, Call of Duty has lost over 50% of its player base on Steam. While there's no way to know whether or not the same can be said for PlayStation and Xbox, the sudden decline in players is expected to be largely down to the ongoing cheating issues in the game's Ranked Play mode. Warzone players seem to have taken the brunt of the issues, with many claiming it has become borderline unplayable and is in one of the worst conditions it's ever been in.
Thankfully, Activision has said it aims to address many of the issues in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone with Season 2. From huge quality-of-life improvements to bug fixes and more, the next season of Call of Duty is set to make some big changes. Black Ops 6 players can look forward to a new challenge tracking feature, updates to player collision, new maps, modes, and more. Unfortunately, Warzone players will have less content than expected for Season 2 as Activision says it is prioritizing gameplay improvements and bug fixes for the duration of the season.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
