Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 players are already expressing concerns over the game's recently revealed Multiplayer maps, as the lack of layout designs for each map has raised some eyebrows among the community. While there's a lot that goes into making a successful Call of Duty game, one of the most important keys to success is Multiplayer maps, but many Black Ops 7 fans are remaining cautious after Activision and Treyarch pulled back the curtain on all eighteen maps this week.
It's going to be a busy few weeks for Call of Duty fans, as yesterday was the first of many intel drops for Black Ops 7 leading up to the game's open beta on October 5. Publisher Activision has finally revealed the official Multiplayer reveal trailer for Black Ops 7, but there's still more to come, as a new Zombies-dedicated trailer will drop on September 24. If that wasn't enough, the yearly COD Next event will also be returning on September 30, where content creators will get to go hands-on with the shooter. There will also likely be tons of new information and deep dives during the event, with a possible look at how Black Ops 7 will be integrated with Warzone in Season 1 later this year.

Black Ops 7's Lack of Map Layouts Sparks Concerns
After pulling back the curtain on all of Black Ops 7' s weapons, modes, perks, maps, and more, fans quickly picked up on the lack of layout designs for each map. Usually, Activision shares the mini-map layout for each map in its promotional images, whether that be for new seasonal updates or a brand-new game. However, that wasn't the case this time, and it's seemingly raised some eyebrows among the community. Although the publisher did reveal plenty of information surrounding all eighteen launch maps, including images for each, players are questioning why the layouts weren't revealed alongside them.
Activision and Treyarch may have suspiciously left out the layout designs for each map, but the studios did state that every map has been "designed for tactical intensity across a wide variety of locations." It was also noted that Black Ops 7's maps have been built around Treyarch Studio's signature three-lane philosophy, but many are questioning whether or not this is the case due to the lack of layout designs. But, with that being said, COD Next is just one week away, so there's every chance that Activision is withholding this information for the upcoming event.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 received high praise at launch, but a common complaint from fans was surrounding the lackluster maps. The introduction of omnimovement kept the gameplay loop fresh, but many of Black Ops 6's Multiplayer maps left fans disappointed, largely due to the lack of the classic three-lane design that Treyarch had become well-known for. While maps such as Stakeout, Skyline, and others became fan favorites, the rest were largely forgettable.
If Treyarch Studios stays true to its word and ensures Black Ops 7's maps are built around the studio's three-lane design philosophy, fans may be in for a much better year. The game's open beta is set to kick off on October 5, allowing players to go hands-on with six of the game's eighteen launch maps: Blackheart, Cortex, Exposure, Imprint, The Forge, and Toshin.
