Treyarch Studios' Design Director for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has revealed how fast the TTK (time-to-kill) speed will be in the shooter's multiplayer, comparing it to last year's Call of Duty title, Black Ops 6. TTK is often a divisive topic, not just among Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fans, but across the whole first-person shooter genre. Certain shooters, such as Apex Legends or Destiny 2, often have higher TTK speeds, while the Call of Duty series is known for usually having a lower TTK, but this can vary depending on the title.
Perfecting the TTK speed can often be a tricky task, as some fans prefer it to be much higher, while others believe Call of Duty's arcade-style roots mean the series should always have a lower TTK. While Black Ops 6 may have finally found the perfect sweet spot, past entries in the series have often left fans divided. For example, 2023's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was criticized for its TTK speed, with many calling out developer Sledgehammer Games for the lengthy and often inconsistent speeds at which it takes to eliminate opponents. This can also be down to individual weapons, too, which is why there are constant balance adjustments in live-service titles like Call of Duty.

How Fast Will Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's TTK Be?
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's TTK speed will be similar to Black Ops 6's, Treyarch has confirmed.
Prior to the game's release, Treyarch revealed that Black Ops 6's TTK would be slightly quicker than previous Call of Duty games. While not everyone was happy about this, the majority of players felt that Treyarch had found a good spot that matched its fast-paced gameplay style. Now, in a new post on Twitter, the studio's Design Director Matt Scronce has revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's TTK speed will be similar to Black Ops 6's. The developer responded to a fan, saying that the TTK speed is "currently sitting around Black Ops 6 TTK." Scronce then went on to explain that Treyarch is happy with its TTK, noting that it is "not too fast and not too slow," which gives players enough time to react and room for weapons to have diversity without targets feeling "overly spongy."
Treyarch Studios has been on a bit of a hot streak lately, implementing tons of community-requested changes for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. After ditching the controversial Carry Forward feature last month, Treyarch recently revealed that it would, in fact, allow certain skins and weapon blueprints to transfer from Black Ops 6 to Black Ops 7. While the unrealistic American Dad and Beavis & Butt-Head skins will be staying firmly in Black Ops 6, Treyarch is allowing players to transfer all four of the Main Quest operator skins from Black Ops 6 into this year's title, as well as the level 1000 Prestige skin and the Guild Override camo.
There have been plenty of other great changes revealed by the studio, too, such as the removal of interactive doors, adjustments to the game's Vault Edition skins, and more. However, for fans still on the fence about pre-ordering Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, an open beta will officially kick off on October 5. Anybody looking to make the most of the beta and jump in even earlier will need to pre-order the shooter, with early access set to begin on October 2.
