Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has given fans a small first look at the brand-new Overload game mode. This new snippet provides a brief insight into what fans can expect from the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer mode.
Overload's existence was first confirmed in the blog for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's multiplayer reveal on September 22. In the blog, it was described as a "push and pull 6v6 respawn mode that challenges teams to overload the enemy's control zones." With only one Overload Device on the map, "the team in charge of the device must protect the carrier as they run toward one of two designated zones near the enemy team’s starting spawn." While a detailed description is nice, gameplay is better, and the opening Black Ops 7 multiplayer reveal did not appear to show the Overload game mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Gives First Look at Overload Game Mode
In a post on X, Treyarch finally offered a first look at the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 game mode. The footage shows players entering the designated Overload zones, with one clip showing the Overload Device being collected. A developer featured in the video describes it as being "very competitive, it requires a lot of team coordinations and strategies." It's bad news for players who don't focus on the objective, then. Although the clips are only short, they're enough to see the kind of high-octane action Overload will bring to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Players don't have to wait long to get a closer look at Overload, either. It's revealed in the video that Overload will appear at the COD Next event on September 30, which will continue to expand on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's multiplayer offerings. Interested fans should ensure they tune in to find out more about Overload - those who watch the event for one hour will also receive an early access code for the upcoming Black Ops 7 beta.
It feels particularly important that Call of Duty sticks the landing with Black Ops 7. Hype for the game's main competitor, Battlefield 6, continues to rise, while a more middling reaction to Black Ops 6 emphasizes the importance of a great Black Ops 7. Some Call of Duty devs are concerned about back-to-back Black Ops releases, so it will be interesting to see how it all actually plays out in practice.
