Summary

  • Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 may start on June 20.
  • Some GameStop stores have reportedly been informed that pre-orders for the shooter will begin on this date.
  • The rumor aligns with previous theories that new information on Black Ops 7 will also be revealed on June 20.

A new rumor claims that pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the upcoming shooter from Treyarch Studios and Raven Software, will begin on June 20. Call of Duty fans have seen very little of Black Ops 7, as the next entry in the series was only revealed a few days ago during the Xbox Games Showcase. However, if rumors are to be believed, new information on the title may be shared soon, as pre-orders are expected to begin in just over a week.

Speculation surrounding pre-orders for Black Ops 7 seemingly strengthens a previous theory that more details regarding the shooter will be revealed before the month comes to an end. Shortly after the game was unveiled to the world on June 8 with a cinematic trailer, Call of Duty fans noticed a detail in the Black Ops 7 key art that suggested a worldwide reveal would take place on June 20. The date was hidden away in the trailer and key art, which led fans to believe that a gameplay reveal with more details on the title could be shared soon. Now, with a new rumor claiming that pre-orders will begin on the same date, fans are convinced that a second trailer with a proper reveal will arrive next week.

Black Ops 7 Pre-Orders May Begin on June 20

As reported by CharlieIntel, Twitter user Icey appears to have gotten their hands on an official Black Ops 7 poster from GameStop. According to the user, some GameStop stores are reportedly being informed that pre-orders for the title will begin on June 20, the same date that was seen in the game's trailer. Although Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was only revealed to the world just a few days ago, pre-orders beginning so soon after shouldn't come as much of a surprise. For comparison, when Black Ops 6 was first revealed on June 9, 2024, pre-orders began on the very same day. As for whether or not fans can expect a new trailer or info drop for the title on the same day remains unclear.

Despite the fact that there has only been a single cinematic trailer released for the next Call of Duty game as of right now, fans seem to be far more excited for Black Ops 7 than they were for its predecessor. In just 24 hours, the reveal trailer for the next Black Ops game racked up more than 28 million views, which is a huge increase when compared to Black Ops 6. The 2024 shooter's reveal trailer has been available on YouTube for a whole year, but it has only managed to garner 19 million views, showcasing that the community seems to be far more interested in Black Ops 7, which will be a direct sequel to 2012's Black Ops 2.

Although there is currently no release date for Black Ops 7, publisher Activision has confirmed previous rumors that the next Call of Duty game will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. These consoles are now approaching twelve years old, leading to confusion among the Call of Duty community as to why Activision continues to support them and hold the series back. While it hasn't been verified by the studio itself, rumors from credible leakers claim that Activision's continued dedication to the last generation of consoles is one of the main reasons why Call of Duty: Warzone is incapable of rotating between large-scale Battle Royale maps, similar to Apex Legends.
