Activision has officially revealed the Season 2 roadmap for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone, confirming that Slums, the iconic multiplayer map first seen in 2012's Black Ops 2, will be making a triumphant return. Slums will be the latest classic Call of Duty map to be remastered for Black Ops 7, and will also be accompanied by three more remasters, including Cliff, Grind, and Firing Range, all of which will be released as part of the shooter's mid-season update.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 marked a huge turning point for the beloved series, as Activision opted to ditch skill-based matchmaking and return to a more traditional system not seen since before the release of 2019's Modern Warfare reboot. The publisher also acknowledged complaints about the franchise straying too far from its roots, admitting that constant collaborations and unrealistic cosmetic items had taken over the series in recent years. As such, the studio opted to ditch the controversial Carry Forward feature for Black Ops 7, which would have allowed players to take all of their cosmetic items and weapons from Black Ops 6 into the latest entry and start fresh.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 2 Roadmap Revealed

One thing that hasn't changed, however, is the steady stream of map remasters making their way to the game. While not everyone is a fan of playing the same maps year after year, developer Treyarch is ensuring that Black Ops 7's maps are a mix of something new alongside plenty of returning classics. With the reveal of the Season 2 roadmap for Black Ops 7 and Warzone, Treyarch and Activision have confirmed that Slums, a beloved map from Black Ops 2, will once again be returning. The map will be released for free when Season 2 goes live on February 5, with three more remastered maps coming with Season 2 Reloaded.

For those who might not be fans of the map, Season 2 has plenty more in store to check out. The update will also see three brand-new maps - Torment, Sake, and Nexus - added to the game next week, as well as additional content for Zombies, Endgame, and Warzone. The studio has also confirmed it will be bringing back Safeguard for Black Ops 7 Season 2, a classic game mode that hasn't been seen in a mainline Call of Duty game since 2018's Black Ops 4.

Although it won't be available at the launch of Season 2, fans can also look forward to the return of Avalon in Call of Duty: Warzone, which will be included as part of a new game mode inspired by Black Ops 4's Blackout, which was the first Battle Royale game mode in a Call of Duty game. The mode will be released with Season 2 Reloaded, which is speculated to release in March, and will introduce a new Battle Royale experience that Treyarch says is built from the ground up and draws inspiration from Blackout. Further details will be revealed closer to the launch of the game's mid-season update.

The timing of Black Ops 7 Season 2 will once again see the shooter go head-to-head with its biggest competitor, Battlefield 6. EA's latest entry in the Battlefield series recently delayed its Season 2 update due to player feedback. Battlefield Studios will now focus on refining and polishing the game's next major content update before its new release date of February 17, which will be less than two weeks after Black Ops 7 and Warzone's next big seasonal update.
