Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is making some big improvements to weapon camos, as Treyarch Studios has now confirmed that players will need fewer headshots to unlock all nine military camos per weapon. The studio has also stated that the overall pacing for unlocking weapon camos in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be significantly more consistent, with the first camo being unlocked after five headshots and then every ten headshots thereafter.

Compared to previous entries in the series, grinding weapon camos in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was incredibly tedious, largely due to the never-ending headshots that were required for all of the military camos. For every single weapon in the game, players had to achieve 100 headshots per gun before they could progress to the special and mastery camos, which each had their own separate challenges. Thankfully, with Black Ops 7 now less than two months away, developer Treyarch Studios has announced some major changes to the system that fans will be thrilled with.

Black Ops 7's Weapon Camos Will Require Fewer Headshots

On September 22, publisher Activision finally released the official Multiplayer reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Alongside the new trailer came an extensive blog post detailing all of the title's new weapons, maps, modes, and more. One of the standout changes mentioned in the post was the improvements to weapon camos. According to Treyarch Studios, players will now only need eighty headshots per weapon to complete all nine military camos. The studio also says that the pacing of camo progression will be more consistent, as the first weapon camo will be unlocked after five headshots and then every ten thereafter.

This isn't the only big change, either, as certain weapons will no longer require headshots as they did in Black Ops 6. To unlock military camos, Shotguns will now require Point Blank Kills and Sniper Rifles will require One Shot Kills to progress. Treyarch also says there will now be three special camos per weapon instead of two, and they are now the same per weapon and can only be equipped to that weapon once unlocked. One other change that fans will be pleased about is the ability to earn weapon camos in the game's Campaign. For the first time in Call of Duty history, players can earn and unlock weapon camos across C o-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and (at Season 1) Call of Duty: Warzone.

The latest trailer and blog post were a huge info dump for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Multiplayer, but there's still plenty more to be revealed in the build-up to the game's open beta next month. For Zombie fans, September 24 will bring a new trailer dedicated to the mode, followed by the return of the COD Next event on September 30. Finally, those who have been eager to go hands-on with Black Ops 7 will be pleased to know that its open beta is set to kick off on October 5. Early access for those who have pre-ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will begin on October 2.
