Activision may have recently backtracked on its plans to allow Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players to carry forward their content into the next entry in the series, but it looks like it may still be moving forward with one final collaboration for the game's final season. According to a new leak from a credible data miner, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 6 will bring about a highly anticipated collaboration with Capcom's iconic horror series, Resident Evil.

Collaborations, microtransactions, and unrealistic cosmetic items have been a hot topic in the Call of Duty community recently. While much of the shooter's playerbase appears to be tired of the "Fortnite-ification" of Call of Duty, others believe Activision's recent decision to revert the Carry Forward feature for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is "anti-consumer." Although Double XP tokens and Gobblegums will still be transferable, any purchased or earned cosmetic items, such as operator skins and weapon blueprints, will only be usable in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. However, it looks like the controversy hasn't prevented Activision from having one final collaboration.

Call of Duty x Resident Evil Rumored for Season 6

Since its release in 2024, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has collaborated with notable franchises such as Squid Game, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, American Dad, and The Terminator, among others. The non-stop events and collaborations divided the community to the point where Activision promised fans that Black Ops 7 would return the series to its roots. However, if a new leak is to be believed, the studio still has one more collaboration planned for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's final season. According to data miner COD Warfare, The Haunting of Verdansk event, which is rumored for Season 6, will feature a crossover with Resident Evil.

In a follow-up post, the leaker implied that Call of Duty's returning Haunting of Verdansk event will feature two new operator skins from the Resident Evil series: Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong. As of writing, these claims have not been confirmed by Activision or Treyarch, so they should be taken with a pinch of salt for the time being. If the rumor does come to fruition, it's possible that the skins will be obtainable via a new Event Pass, or they may be locked behind yet another store bundle for players to purchase.

Following a significant amount of controversy throughout Black Ops 6's life cycle, Activision and Treyarch stated that they have heard the community's feedback and understood the need to deliver a better balance that prioritizes the immersive, core Call of Duty experience. As such, the Carry Forward feature was canned, and Treyarch Studios has even recently stated that it rejected some major brand collaborations for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. So, if the rumored Resident Evil collab for Black Ops 6 Season 6 does turn out to be true, fans won't be able to take those cosmetic items into this year's entry.
