Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 introduced a new mechanic in the form of Unstable Rifts for its Zombies mode. Unstable Rifts are the perfect high-risk high-reward aspect of Zombies, so players who are looking for an action-packed experience should definitely give it a shot.
Before players get into finding and activating Unstable Rifts, it is crucial that they have the right Modern Warfare 3 loadout. The path to unlocking an Unstable Rift is quite long and can get quite difficult, so it is crucial that players are well-equipped beforehand. Here is how to unlock Unstable Rifts in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies.

Scatter Mines are the latest addition to Modern Warfare 3’s tactical arsenal; here’s what they do and when they unlock.
Where To Find Obelisks In Call of Duty MW3 Zombies?
There are several spots where Obelisks can spawn on the map of Urzikstan. While multiple Obelisks might spawn in a single match, it is crucial to note that they only show up on the map in groups of three. Players can find all the possible locations of Obelisks on the map above. The spawning behavior of these Obelisks seems to be totally random, so players should try visiting each of these locations in order to look for the Obelisks. The good news is that there is no time limit in which players need to find these, and activating three of them is all that is required.
How To Activate Unstable Rift In Call of Duty MW3 Zombies
Once players have found an Obelisk, they will need to find what ammo mod it corresponds to. The symbol of the ammo mod is engraved on the Obelisk itself. Players will need to first equip the ammo mod to be able to activate the seal. Once that's done, players will need to take down the zombies in the radius. It is crucial to note that players should use the correct ammo mod while doing this process. Eventually, it will transform, and then players can move to the next one. If players are struggling to get the ammo mod, they can go to a nearby infested stronghold or aether nest to get one. All three Obelisks need to be activated for the Unstable Rift to appear.
The bad news is that the Unstable Rift can appear a bit further away from the Obelisk, and players will need to travel to that location to get in. The location of the Unstable Rift will be marked on the map. What makes things extremely tricky is the fact that anybody can enter the Unstable Rift. So even though you did all the hard work of finding all three Obelisks and activating them, a random party can simply enter the Unstable Rift. Players have reported that at times it just spawns near an enemy team, which makes it extremely difficult to enter. There is no definite way of doing this, and all players can do is try to be as fast as possible and hope they get through.
Once players are inside the Unstable Rift, all they need to do is take down 5 waves of zombies. While players get all perks and powerups, Pack-a-Punch weapon, and Golden Armor Plates, it is going to be an extremely tricky affair to complete. Having a Wonder Weapon and Classified Schematics should help players, so it is recommended players use them. Once they complete the Unstable Rift, they will get Mark of the Survivor camo and the cooldown timer of insured weapons and schematics will be removed.
