Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7. Dubbed Phantom Current, the content drop is set to expand Call of Duty: Mobile with a new operator, another battle royale map, and even a racing mode, among other novelties.
The TiMi Studios-developed mobile shooter has been hosting seasons on a near-monthly basis since its 2019 release. Throughout this period, the developer reset its season count every time a new mainline Call of Duty game dropped. For the current Black Ops 6 era, Call of Duty: Mobile is presently in Season 6, Gundams, which kicked off on July 2.
While the ongoing season is only three weeks old, Activision has already unveiled its successor. Called Phantom Current, the upcoming content drop has been scheduled for July 30, being planned to launch at 5pm PT / 8pm ET. Call of Duty: Mobile Season 6 will thus end up being an uncharacteristically short affair, though not exceedingly so. As for what's coming next, Phantom Current promises a wide variety of new content largely centered on a nautical theme. The Gulag battle royale map is also making its debut as part of Season 7, being planned to launch as a limited-time event. Additionally, players will get to experience a new multiplayer mode called Mini Mayhem, which will have them racing RC-XD cars.
Call of Duty: Mobile Is Crossing Over with Girls’ Frontline
As is often the case, the new season will mark the arrival of another Call of Duty: Mobile collaboration. This time around, the hit shooter is crossing over with Girls' Frontline, a gacha strategy game from Chinese developer MICA Team. The collaboration will take the form of a themed event allowing players to earn rewards for various tasks, ranging from simple logins to completing challenges across both of the game's main modes. As always, the activities will be listed in the Events tab, accessible from the left-hand side of the main lobby menu.
The Season 7 Battle Pass features the Bomb Drone Scorestreak, MG 82 LMG, and multiple new skins and weapon blueprints as free rewards. The Premium Pass tier offers many more nautical-themed cosmetics and equipment, including the KN-44 - Angler. The Season 7 store update will introduce a new Mythic Operator in the form of another variant of Dark Shepherd, who originally debuted in the game in August 2020. This latest rendition of the character wears reaper-like armor and wields his signature scythe. The updated store will also feature some new cosmetic bundles.
Activision typically does not disclose the duration of Call of Duty: Mobile seasons in advance, and it has not deviated from that approach this time. Regardless, historical precedent suggests that Season 7 will run until late August 2025. As the popular shooter nears its sixth anniversary, reports have emerged suggesting that several new Call of Duty mobile games may be in development.
