Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Best M4 Loadout/Build

It's safe to say that most veterans, if they have only one weapon with a favored loadout in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, will choose the M4. As the starter weapon, mastering this gun is key to getting through the early stages after a prestige. The better they are with the M4, the more painless this process will be.

Some experts have decided to stick with the M4 even after getting to the top and staying there. It is often listed among the top-tier weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and this is for a good reason. With the right loadout, it can carry a player from the first level to the last.

Attachments

Because the M4 is the best assault rifle at being an assault rifle, it makes sense to lean into that advantage. Go heavy on attachments that favor the mid-range game and try not to sacrifice any amount of aiming down sights. Close-range weapons can fire from the hip, sniper rifles can take their time to set up a shot, but mid-range combatants need to be able to aim and fire immediately.

Improve this even more by tuning the weapon to favor aiming down sights and mid-range fire. Bullet velocity and stopping power should be favored. The goal is to win the fight against any other mid-range combatant and these are the attachments to do that with.

Secondary Weapon

• Combat Knife

The build sacrifices a good amount of movement speed to do what it needs to do. To compensate for this, use a combat knife. The weapon itself will take care of any mid-range encounters, so forfeiting a secondary weapon that could help out in this aspect is not a big deal.

Aside from being lightweight, this loadout is also surprisingly stealthy. Thanks to a silencer, players will occasionally get a chance to sneak around against opponents. The combat knife gives gamers a free stab. After performing a prestige, weapons will reset, so remember to re-equip this when it gets unlocked the next time around.

Tactical & Lethal Slots

The game has some excellent and diverse maps, so it is important to choose gadgets that can be used in most situations.

This is where the loadout goes from good to great. If two players have equal skills and see each other at the same time, this gun will win already. Further this advantage by using decoy grenades and fool enemies. Loop around and then attack them before they see what has happened.

Frag grenades might not be the most creative choice, but they will help when enemies duck behind cover. This is a common occurrence when fighting at mid-range and frag grenades are an excellent way of handling that situation.

Perks

The best perks for this loadout capitalize on its strengths. With so many decoy and tactical grenades needed to maneuver around and kill enemies without taking fire in return, go ahead and have both base perks beef them up. Resupply is similar, giving players more uses from their tactical gear.

Birdseye takes the standard map and zooms it out, allowing every enemy in the range of the M4 to be seen if they get pinged. When it is earned, the free UAV sweep is as good as it gets. Exposing enemies now becomes a featured part of the build.

Field Upgrade

There are some top-notch field upgrades out there, don't feel bad grabbing some of the most powerful choices. If enemies refuse to expose themselves by heading toward a decoy grenade, give them no choice but to expose themselves with a Portable Radar.

Too often, players feel forced to charge over enemies they've recently killed to gain back some ammo. Don't do it. The Munitions Box allows players to toss down some ammo if they run out. Teams will appreciate this too, certainly, but it's more for the M4's ammo and the build's devices than anything.

Killstreak Rewards

Luckily for the M4 users, their best killstreak rewards do not require massive death counts. The UAV reveals enemies on the map. Between it, the Birdseye, and the decoy grenades, players should always have some kind of vantage point.

The counter UAV is a smart choice because, while the M4 is a killer against other assault rifles, no loadout can prevent death if a player is seen before they can react. Jam signals with a Counter UAV. The Sentry Gun may seem like an odd choice, but the maps in the game rarely allow players to focus on one area. The Sentry Gun can defend the player's back in areas that are ordinarily high-risk.

Get the graphics settings just right and this build is unstoppable.
