The chatter about the SP-R 208 being the most overpowered marksman rifle in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is somewhat warranted, but there are two major caveats. First, it favors players who are ridiculously accurate. Shooting and missing is a death sentence for the user. Second, it starts off as one of the worst guns in the game.

Unlike many of its counterparts, this bolt-action rifle can only kill with a headshot as it is. Miss the head and then spend forever reloading. Players will need to make use of some of the best attachments and benefits in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to understand why the gun is so powerful.

This gun simply has to get faster and more deadly to get even a moderate amount of kills and this build does exactly that. The SP-R 208 goes from being a terrible backline weapon to a gun that can one-shot anything from the mid-range on up.

Many users love to get into the thick of the fight with this build. That's certainly possible with the extra mobility and deadliness in one-on-one scenarios. Balance this with knowing when to withdraw. This is still a marksman rifle after all and killstreaks are an important part of the loadout.

Improve this even more by tuning the weapon to balance out any rough edges. The gun is surprisingly well-rounded, just be sure the damage is high enough to kill players on any center shot.

Secondary Weapon

A second primary weapon gained from perks is exactly what this build needs. It's already one of the heavyweights from mid-to-long range, pair it with a gun that is instant death for anything closer. The Lockwood 300 is the king of stopping power as a two-shot shotgun.

Don't let good killstreak rewards die just because a speedy enemy got too close. Eliminate all dead zones and flip back and forth between these guns with deadly effectiveness. After performing a prestige, weapons will reset, so remember to re-equip this when it gets unlocked the next time around.

Frag Grenade

The game has some excellent and diverse maps, so it is important to choose gadgets that can be used in most situations. The Stim is helpful for the SP-R 208 who needs to run from position to position. The build only works if it can get from encounter to encounter quickly.

Frag Grenade may sound like the boring choice, but thanks to the two primary weapons, enemies can only hide behind walls to stay safe. The Frag Grenade can get bounced around corners, thus deleting any chance the opponent has to get out of danger.

Quick Fix

The best perks for this loadout embrace the injection of action into the ordinarily stagnant marksman rifle. Overkill is required to get that second primary weapon. Double Time will help players get from place to place faster, doubly important due to the weight of the second primary weapon.

Fast Hands allows the player to switch from the SP-R 208 to the Lockwood 300 quickly. Finally, Quick Fix heals the player after they score a kill. Not many marksman rifles can or should survive in the thick of the action, but these perks prove an exception to that rule.

Loadout Drop

There are some top-notch field upgrades out there, don't feel bad grabbing some of the most effective choices. Battle Rage works similarly to Stim, giving players a boost when they need it the most, either just after a nasty fight or just before a potentially deadly skirmish.

Loadout Drop may seem very supportive for the build, but the loadout will definitely have to recharge in between fights. Although it's possible to kill five or six players in a quick sweep, any more than that will require replenishment of resources.

Advanced UAV

With the ground support covered, killstreak rewards should take care of business from the skies. Most builds should not get any killstreak rewards over six or seven, but an exception is made for the SP-R 208 as it can rack up kills quickly without dying. Players get to rotate locations for maximum unpredictability, deadliness, and safety.

The Overwatch Help and the Chopper Gunner take care of targets outdoors, especially enemy snipers and marksmen who can be a problem for active runners. Finally, the Advanced UAV can't be shot down and maintains constant monitoring of enemies. If players get twelve kills, odds are they've won the battle already; this reward just makes it official.

Get the graphics settings just right and this build is unstoppable.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
