The festivities arrive in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as it lays out all the Holiday-themed maps and modes that have been temporarily added to multiplayer and Zombies as part of the Season 1 Locked and Loaded CODMAS event. Having just begun its first season, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has already added two new smaller 6v6 maps in Meat and Greece, and has also launched the new Urzikstan battle royale map in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Over the past week there have been many complaints within the Modern Warfare 3 community of cheaters getting their hands on the MWZ Ray Gun Wonder Weapon and using it in regular multiplayer matches. These reports came ahead of the planned Vortex limited-time multiplayer mode which aims to put the all-powerful Ray Gun in the hands of one player per match. After tweaking these illegal Ray Guns to cause damage to the cheaters when fired, Call of Duty further addressed the issue with its most recent December 14 update.

A certain operator skin in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has a strange and disturbing bug that's causing players to think twice before buying it.

With the holiday season in full swing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has gone ahead and outlined its CODMAS event, which has just gone live and will run until January 3. Headlining the festivities is Santa's Slayground, a set of eight challenges players can complete to earn a set of holiday-themed rewards, including a weapon blueprint. Players will be able to work toward these challenges across two reskinned CODMAS maps in the return of Call of Duty's Shipmas and Hangover, the Holiday version of fan-favorite Highrise. Additionally, CODMAS brings a festive twist to some of the more popular multiplayer game modes. The Infected mode will see infected players donning the new undead Santa Gnaws skin, and a spin on the 2v2 Gunfight mode, named Snowfight, has been added, which will have players engage in a snowball fight during the first two rounds with a strange one-hit yellow snowball available to grab in the center of the map.

CODMAS is also coming to MWZ as well, with all zombies, including some of the larger beasts, rocking Santa hats and Christmas lights. Snowballs will also be available all over the map for use in players' Zombie-slaying endeavors. Call of Duty: Warzone is also getting a piece of the CODMAS pie with Slay Ride Resurgence, which sees a hostile Santa Gnaws take over the moving train on Warzone's Urzikstan map. Part of the CODMAS blog post highlighted Vortex mode, which will go live on January 3 until January 17, and will add three new hellish map reskins of Rust, Quarry, and Scrapyard.

Between Santa's Slayground challenges, multiplayer modes like Snowfight and Infectious Holiday, Slay Ride Resurgence, and Vortex mode, it looks like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players have a lot to enjoy with CODMAS over the next few weeks into mid-January, and Season 1 isn't even halfway through. It likely won't be too long after the Vortex event ends on January 17 before Modern Warfare 3 is ready to unveil its plans for Season 2 as Spring approaches.
