One Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 player finds an incredible use for the Comm Scrambler field upgrade, surprisingly stopping a Cruise Missile killstreak in its tracks. While this year's Call of Duty release has seen plenty of ups and downs, with fans largely disappointed with the short Modern Warfare 3 campaign, the one bright spot has been the multiplayer component. Even though the experience isn't perfect, such as the 16 launch maps all taken from Modern Warfare 2 or the overly aggressive skill-based matchmaking system in place, most fans have praised the feel of moment to moment gameplay.
Featuring that familiar fast-paced action from past games, players have started to piece together which weapons and loadouts are particularly strong. With Modern Warfare 3 continuing to utilize a live-service style system, the game will continue to see new updates and content, making sure the meta is always changing as new gear gets added to matches and patches make changes and tweaks to Modern Warfare 3 weapon balance. Some players have even discovered previously unknown tricks for various items and gear, like one player who found a surprising way to use the Comm Scrambler field upgrade.
Sledgehammer Games Responds to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 'Snaking 2.0' Exploit
Sledgehammer Games updates Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players on a potential fix for a new "Snaking 2.0" exploit ruining matches.
Over on the Modern Warfare 3 sunReddit, a player named A_Squid_Kid09 posted a short video of a wild moment during a multiplayer match. Taking out the field upgrade called the Comm Scrambler, the all too familiar sound of a cruise missile kill streak could be heard in the background. As the sound got louder, the player looked to the sky to see the killstreak heading towards their location for what should have been an easy kill. However, while looking up, the Comm Scrambler device seemingly blocked the strike completely as it was being thrown, not only saving the life of the player, but the rest of the team around him as well.
The clip definitely surprised many in the comments, who showered the field upgrade with accolades and nicknames, though one player may have figured out what actually happened in that instance. Comments from BakedSteak and EQGallade chalked the save up to Spawn Protection rather than the field upgrade as the device wasn't actually placed on the ground when the missile hit. EQGallade followed up by saying spawn protection in Modern Warfare 3 is longer than expected when compared to past games, and that it has helped them survive killstreak attacks that should have normally taken them out.
In a few days, the popular Call of Duty map Shipment makes its return to Modern Warfare 3, so it'll be interesting to see how this longer than expected spawn protection will be working on killstreaks there. The small and chaotic Shipment map will be joining a special Rustment 24/7 playlist, which features the other small map known as Rust, in what should make for plenty of frenetic and fast-paced action.
