A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 player shares an idea that Sledgehammer Games should bring back the random option for map voting to add a bit of variety to multiplayer. Launching earlier this month, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 brought back 16 classic multiplayer maps from the 2009 title, Modern Warfare 2. Instead of being just straight ports, the maps have been touched up and remastered a bit, giving them a little new look and feel.
Alongside the returning maps, Sledgehammer also confirmed the return of map voting, a way in between matches for players to choose which arena they'd like to compete in next, with the next match taking place on the map receiving the highest number of votes. Map voting has been a big request from the Call of Duty community after it was missing from Modern Warfare 2, and it gives fans a way to avoid unpopular maps or playing on the same map multiple times. While fans are thrilled to have this feature back, one player offers an idea which could make it even better.
Over on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 subReddit, a user named StonedPickleG59 posted a simple image of the Black Ops 2 lobby with a single caption that said the random map option should be brought back as well. Within some of the older game, like Treyarch's Black Ops series, players would get three options to vote on; two maps and then a random option if the map options weren't good enough or, ultimately, what players wanted. With random, it gives players a little more control over what they play, especially if either map on offer aren't viewed as good options.
The suggestion seems to be a hit in the community, as many others liked the idea as some have indicated getting certain maps to appear as an option has been tougher than expected. There were also plenty of nostalgic comments regarding Black Ops 2, especially the maps in the screenshot like Raid, which most agreed was a great map. With Treyarch seemingly set to release next year's Call of Duty title, fans are hoping to see the series return to peak form.
The recently teased Season 1 update aims to bring a bunch of changes and improvements to the overall experience. While there's still a lot not known, Modern Warfare 3 fans are getting Gunfight back as well as 4 brand-new maps in Season 1. Three of them, Meat, Greece, and Rio, are traditional 6v6 style maps, while Training Facility is specifically designed for the return of Gunfight, a popular 2v2 mode originally introduced in 2019's Modern Warfare.
