Summary
- According to dataminers, a Deadpool & Wolverine crossover may be coming to Call of Duty: Warzone & Modern Warfare 3.
- The crossover may come before the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film hits theaters on July 26.
Call of Duty data miners have uncovered evidence that a new Deadpool & Wolverine crossover may soon hit Warzone and Modern Warfare 3. This rumored collaboration would tie in with the upcoming Marvel film, adding even more unique characters for Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 players to use while on the battlefield.
The most recent entry in Activision's highly successful and popular FPS franchise, Modern Warfare 3 is both its own game and a remake, offering players a wide variety of modes to enjoy, as well as a thrilling albeit short main campaign. The game also ushered in a new age for Call of Duty's popular Zombies mode, completely transforming the round-based gameplay mode into an open-world experience. Alongside Modern Warfare 3, Warzone has also received a steady stream of new content, with the live-service model allowing players to enjoy a wide range of new operators. Rapper Nicki Minaj was brought to Warzone last year, and data miners have possibly uncovered an exciting new Marvel crossover coming soon.
Dataminer crashfty shared a video clip showing off what appears to be finishing moves in Call of Duty: Warzone. These moves may not stand out to some Call of Duty players, but upon closer inspection, the animations bear a striking resemblance to Ryan Reynold's portrayal of Deadpool. The brief clip shows a soldier resting on the ground before being executed. Another brief clip shows a player waving sarcastically after their kill, which is standard Deadpool behavior.
Major Marvel Crossover Rumored For Warzone And Modern Warfare 3
Collaborations are nothing new for Call of Duty and Warzone, with past crossovers like Fallout, Warhammer 40,000, and Gundam all being announced just weeks ahead of release, giving this rumored crossover more credibility. This collaboration would also come at a good time, considering Deadpool & Wolverine releases on July 26 and will likely pull in huge numbers at the box office. The film will mark the third entry in Marvel's irreverent and off-color Deadpool franchise.
While Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone both remain popular, many players are looking ahead to the next Call of Duty title, Black Ops 6. Unveiled in detail in June, Black Ops 6 sees longtime Call of Duty developer Treyarch take the reins once again. Alongside the anticipated multiplayer and campaign modes, Treyarch promised that Zombies would return to its roots in Black Ops 6, confirming the game would launch with two round-based maps on launch day. Treyarch also confirmed support for Call of Duty: Warzone will continue with Black Ops 6.
