Summary
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone's newest update expands weapon prestige camos and balances gameplay for a better experience.
- Changes Modern Warfare 2 weapon prestige camos, JAK Wardens kit fixes, and more improvements.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone have received a new update that expands weapon prestige camos, applies some minor weapon-balancing changes, and more. This is likely one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's last updates before the launch of Season 4 in late May.
Call of Duty's last weekly update made various improvements to MW3's Zombies mode along with bug fixes for certain items, maps, and modes in the game's standard multiplayer. Also, a prevalent Warzone bug causing automatic tactical sprint issues was resolved. That update was followed by another one a day later, which attempted to balance the new JAK Wardens conversion kit that resembles the Model 1887 akimbo shotguns from Modern Warfare 2 (2009).
Some of the changes in Call of Duty's newest update were applied to both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, such as weapon prestige camos now being unlockable for MW2 weapons, the JAK Wardens no longer equipping incompatible attachments, the COR-45 no longer firing faster than intended, and various optic attachments now displaying the correct statistics in the Gunsmith menu. Those improvements cover all the Warzone changes, but MW3 received other weapon and equipment adjustments, including a nerf to the DG-58 LSW and a change to the Enhanced Vision Goggles field upgrade, making it no longer automatically unequip after running out of battery. Instead, it now blurs the user's vision upon depletion, allowing a player to unequip the field upgrade at their own convenience.
Other MW3 changes include a bug fix for Derail that prevents players from entering a restricted area and akimbo weapons no longer receiving less reserve ammo than intended in certain scenarios. Small improvements were also applied to a trio of game modes, with EOD Padding in Arcade no longer reducing explosive damage from power weapons, blank perk icons no longer showing on the survivors' HUD in Infected, and weapon stats no longer appearing blank in the after-action report following a One in the Chamber match.
The High-Gain Antenna perk, which was added with Call of Duty's Season 3 update, also received a minor bug fix that makes enemy equipment correctly display on the user's compass when said equipment is detected by teammates. MW3's user interface received some upgrades as well, such as equipment skins now able to be previewed in the Store, tracked challenges now accurately reflecting progress towards weapon prestige camos, and more.
That's about it for Call of Duty's newest update. But as for the future of the series, it seems likely that Call of Duty 2024 will be revealed within the next month or so, either through an in-game reveal that datamined files seemed to hint at, or during Xbox's June showcase on June 9.
