WWE superstar Rhea Ripley is going to war in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Warzone, and she’s bringing a handful of special finishing moves and cosmetics from the squared circle with her. Call of Duty has seen its fair share of crossovers with other staples of popular culture over the past few years, ranging from collaborations with fictional properties like Scream and The Boys to guest appearances from real celebrities like Nicki Minaj.
WWE is as popular as ever these days, and Call of Duty recently announced a crossover with the professional wrestling juggernaut as part of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone's Season 5. Details were scarce during this initial reveal, save for what looked like a stage themed after a WWE ring. In the past, Call of Duty seemingly drew inspiration from pro wrestling for some of its finishing attacks, and WWE alumni Booker T once pursued legal action against Activision over Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 character Prophet. On a more positive note, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 added a playable Operator inspired by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s real-life cousin Ben back in November.
Call of Duty Gives Ghost a New Look
Popular operator Ghost receives a refreshing, new look as Call of Duty shares a glimpse of the character in a highly requested outfit.
Now, Call of Duty has revealed its first bonafide crossover with WWE in a new trailer shared on the official Call of Duty Twitter account, and it will be centered around none other than the former Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. The Eradicator is shown stepping onto the battlefield in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty Warfare in two playable outfits, unleashing her wrath upon any opposing players unlucky enough to be in her way.
Call of Duty x WWE Rhea Ripley Crossover Release Date
- July 24, 2024
Rhea Ripley won’t be the only new content in this latest Call of Duty Season 5 update. Other bonuses shown in the recent trailer include finishing attacks based on actual WWE moves, new “Bait” and “Yard” multiplayer maps, and cell-shaded map variants called “Toonoxide,” “Celship,” and “Ink House.” The previously hinted-at wrestling ring stage also appears, meaning that players could also take each other on in WWE-style matchups in the future.
As for Rhea Ripley, she has been one of the most dominant female superstars ever since winning the Women’s World Championship at last year’s WrestleMania 39, an event that was included in WWE 2K24’s WrestleMania-focused Showcase mode. She just recently returned to Monday Night Raw following an injury, just as her onscreen boyfriend "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio found himself in a tempestuous situation with Rhea’s longtime rival, Liv Morgan. Only time will tell how this ordeal will impact Rhea Ripley and the Judgement Day faction, but she will soon make a playable appearance in Call of Duty starting on July 24.
