The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign is a direct sequel to last year's Modern Warfare 2. The missions within the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign reward players with items that can be used across game modes and in the series' popular battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Has Disappointing News for PS5 Gamers
A recent discovery about Modern Warfare 3's trophy list has become a source of outrage and confusion among Call of Duty fans and gamers.
Some PS5 players are experiencing a "disc required" error that keeps them from starting the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign. When the issue occurs, a message pops up on the screen that asks players to insert a PS4 disc copy of Modern Warfare 2. Not long after the game went live for early access, the official social media account for Call of Duty updates stated the team was looking into it. The social media account quickly addressed the issue and announced an update that is already available. To activate the update, players are required to restart the game.
Interestingly, the initial post contains a link that takes fans to a task-managing app called Trello. This board allows fans to see what issues the team is currently working on, and at what stage they are at with various fixes. There are sections for known multiplayer issues, resolved multiplayer issues, known campaign issues, and resolved campaign issues. The "disc required" error has since been moved to the "resolved campaign issues" tab.
Even outside the ongoing release of Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty has been a major topic of conversation among gaming fans and industry insiders following Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Microsoft has stated it isn't planning to make the franchise an Xbox-only title, and Phil Spencer is looking to end platform-exclusive Call of Duty content.
The next order of business is to see what plans Xbox has for Call of Duty on Game Pass. With the deal closing recently, Xbox is likely looking to add Activision Blizzard games to its fan-favorite subscription service sometime in 2024. Unfortunately, that means that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 isn't included on Xbox Game Pass on day one like other first-party titles.
