Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has revealed three new 6v6 multiplayer maps coming to the game as part of Season 1, as well as a new map that will debut alongside the returning 2v2 Gunfight mode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has had a rough start, earning mostly negative reviews from critics and finding itself the center of a great deal of criticism. On the other hand, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has also earned some praise, mainly for its multiplayer component.
Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer has been praised for its movement and fan-requested changes, like the return of red dots on the mini-map. Something that has been somewhat divisive with the game is the fact that MW3's maps are all from the 2009 Modern Warfare 2 game. Some fans enjoy the nostalgia associated with these popular maps, while others think the recycling of old maps makes it difficult to justify the game's $70 price tag.
Regardless, fresh maps will be coming to the MW3 multiplayer experience in the near future. Activision has officially confirmed three new maps for the Modern Warfare 3 6v6 multiplayer experience and one new map that will debut with Gunfight's return in Season 1. The new 6v6 maps are Meat, which is a "compact" map set at a slaughterhouse; Greece, which is a medium-sized map that takes place at a coastal town; and Rio, which is set at a shopping center. Meat and Greece will be available with Season 1's launch, though Rio won't come until the Season 1 Reloaded update, likely to drop in 2024. Meanwhile, Gunfight will be making its return with Season 1's launch in December alongside the new Training Facility map.

The 2v2 Gunfight game mode has been hugely popular since it was introduced in the 2019 Modern Warfare game, and so many fans will undoubtedly be happy to see it return in Modern Warfare 3. It remains to be seen just how many maps Modern Warfare 3 Gunfight will have at Season 1's launch, but it was teased that there will be some "returning" maps from previous Call of Duty games added to the mix.
More details on Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer updates and changes for Season 1 will come at a later date. In the meantime, fans can also expect some new content for the Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode and the introduction of the Urzikstan map when Season 1 launches. An official start date for Season 1 has not been announced at the time of this writing, but more information on that front should come to light sooner rather than later.
