Professional Call of Duty player Clayster has announced his retirement from the competitive scene after a 16-year-long career. Clayster revealed his decision only days before the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

James "Clayster" Eubanks started playing competitive Call of Duty in 2007 at the age of 15. He has since become a three-time world champion and a legend among CoD fans. Clayster's first world championship win was in 2015, during the Advanced Warfare era, while playing with Denial Esports. He was named MVP in the finals. He would win again in 2019 with eUnited playing Black Ops 4 and another time in 2020 with Dallas Empire playing Modern Warfare. As one of the most decorated CoD players of all time, Clayster has amassed a large social media following and began pursuing content creation and streaming. With the imminent release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, fans were hoping to see Clayster compete in the next Call of Duty League season. However, the American pro player has revealed this won't be the case.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Has Bad News for PlayStation Trophy Hunters

New details surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on PlayStation 5 reveal bad news for players looking to unlock all of the shooter's trophies.

On October 23, through a 30-minute video titled "Gratitude" posted on his Twitter account, Clayster confirmed his retirement from competitive Call of Duty. “Thank you to everyone who made pro CoD a possible career path,” he said. Clayster is putting down his controller after 16 years of competing professionally. In his retirement video, the 32-year-old player pointed out that he's won 20 major tournaments out of the 99 he's participated in. Though he became a world champion with different teams, he is also remembered for his time with FaZe Clan and CompLexity. Clayster thanked his fans for their support and said they became "a dream come true for a kid from a small town in Virginia." Despite his retirement from professional competitions, Clayster continues creating gaming content as he has recently held a Black Ops 6 livestream.

Call of Duty Pro Clayster Announces His Retirement

Clayster's last team was the Carolina Royal Ravens, but he admitted his final seasons were not his best runs. No sooner had the team let him go on July 6, than Clayster told his fans he was considering retirement. His lengthy pro-player path has had a great impact on Call of Duty and eSports in general. Fans may recall some memorable moments in his career, like the time he accidentally leaked official CoD Cold War tournament rules during a stream. Clayster now joins the list of legendary retired CoD players, along with Karma, Crimsix, Nadeshot, and others.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is soon launching worldwide, setting up a new era for the franchise. Though Black Ops 6 deviates from previous titles in many ways, fans can expect other familiar features and popular maps to return. The game's official release is set for October 25, but some players and content creators have managed to try it a few days early. One streamer has even become the first to acquire a gold weapon camo. It won't be long before more players get their own as well.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.

Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
