Fans recently got a highly-anticipated overview of what Season 5 has in store for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. As the penultimate season of the Black Ops 6 era, Season 5 has been under pressure for some time in terms of delivering an exciting range of content. Players previously had a vague idea of what the season would add to BO6's modes and Warzone, but a recent trailer and official roadmap for Season 5 left nothing to the imagination.

Season 5 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 promises big things for the title's Zombies mode and core multiplayer, with a wide range of additions being scheduled to release throughout the season. While this is good news for fans of Black Ops 6, the confirmed content for Call of Duty: Warzone is not as expansive. A lot of uncertainty has existed around Warzone's plans for the rest of the Black Ops 6 era, and it seems as if Season 5 will be pretty underwhelming for fans of the battle royale.

The two multiplayer FPS heavyweights of 2025 are already going at it as the freshly revealed Battlefield 6 trumps Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's trailer.

Black Ops 6 and Warzone's Season 5 Content Seems Like a Mixed Bag

The recently revealed Season 5 content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 paints a respectable picture for fans of the game's core multiplayer. Four new maps are slated to come to the game over the course of the season, for example, alongside a mixture of six brand-new and returning game modes. A new scorestreak will also be added to core multiplayer and Zombies with Season 5, known as the Combat Bow.

Season 5 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone is expected to launch on August 7 at 9AM PST.

Of course, the spotlight is on Zombies for Season 5 of Black Ops 6, with players finally getting their hands on the mode's final map. Reckoning will see players fight through the mysterious Janus Towers in what promises to be a high-octane conclusion to Black Ops 6's Zombies storyline. New enemies, modes, and Grief Arenas will also come to Zombies through Season 5, as well as the Mister Peeks field upgrade and the Gorgofex Wonder Weapon.

A lot of fresh universal content will also be coming across Black Ops 6 and Warzone, with new weapons, bundles, operators, attachments, and events further fleshing out Season 5. In terms of Warzone, specific content, however, the roadmap for Season 5 leaves a lot to be desired. Rumors and theories suggested that Avalon might finally become a major Warzone map as part of Season 5, though the confirmed content for Warzone points toward a much quieter reality.

Warzone's Content Plans Might Be Slim Before Black Ops 7 Launches

It's Only Getting Harder to Argue Against This Call of Duty: Warzone Community Movement

As opposed to something as expansive as a new major map, Call of Duty: Warzone will instead receive an update to Verdansk's Stadium POI with Season 5. This change will directly tie into one of Warzone's two new modes that will come with Season 5; Stadium Resurgence will soon come to the battle royale as a limited-time mode. The Deadline gamemode will also make a brief appearance in Warzone as a result of Season 5, in addition to the new Satellite Hijack contract.

This covers the extent of what changes Warzone players can expect to see over the course of Season 5, with this already being the source of some vocal disappointment within the game's community. Fans may soon see some major changes like the Avalon map eventually be introduced as the Black Ops 7 era of CoD rolls around, but it seems clear that the upcoming Season 5 is directed much more at Black Ops 6 than it is Warzone.
