A new Call of Duty: Warzone playlist update disabled the controversial Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment for the Lockwood 300 shotgun. The update brought relief to many Call of Duty: Warzone players on social media, since the attachment was capable of giving other players an unfair advantage.
Season 1 Reloaded of Warzone is underway with a new Gulag Public Event, Champion's Quest, two new weapons, and so much more. Although the Reloaded update added a slew of new content, the update's launch on January 17 was mired with technical issues and bugs in Warzone. The Call of Duty developers quickly worked to remedy the problems affecting both games and offered compensation in the form of double XP tokens for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. Some issues still lingered for some time after the Reloaded update was released, including the troublesome Lockwood 300's overpowered Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment in Warzone.

Call of Duty Update Disables the Controversial Lockwood 300 Attachment
A new tweet from the official Call of Duty Updates Twitter account confirms a minor Warzone playlist update is live with the sole purpose of disabling the Lockwood 300 shotgun's Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment. This attachment allowed the fan-favorite Modern Warfare 2 shotgun to deal more damage than originally intended, with some players noting that it's capable of making Lockwood 300 rounds pierce through armor plates for one-shot kills. Players may still equip the attachment on the shotgun, but it will perform like the default trigger attachment for the time being. The Call of Duty development team did not give an estimate for when a hotfix would arrive, but Warzone players on Twitter are satisfied with the attachment being disabled for the foreseeable future.
This is not the first time that the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment has been disabled in Warzone due to its overpowering damage potential, however. The December 19 update for Warzone also disabled the attachment, but the attachment was re-enabled not long afterward. The latest update should serve as another temporary reprieve for those who were on the receiving end of the shotgun in Warzone, but fans will likely want an explanation for why this issue is reoccurring.
It's clear that there are still issues that need to be fixed in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone following the Reloaded update's launch. With Season 2 of Call of Duty on the horizon, the developers could be preparing additional bug fixes and changes to alleviate the problems that players have been facing recently. Season 2 is expected to release in early February, so players can expect official details soon.
