A new video shared by a Call of Duty: Warzone 2 player shows off a frustratingly unfair glitch that allows gamers to begin attacking Gulag opponents before the round even begins. Even though developers Infinity Ward and Raven Software recently released a new update for Warzone 2 meant to address bugs and balance issues in the game, the free-to-play shooter continues to be plagued by numerous technical issues.
The second entry into the crowded Battle Royale genre by developers Infinity Ward and Raven Software, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 released to a somewhat mixed response in late 2022. While the first Warzone was praised by many players for bringing the tight gunplay that’s become a hallmark of the Call of Duty franchise to the Battle Royale market, gameplay changes announced before launch left many players wary of the free-to-play sequel. While the game received fairly positive reviews from many outlets upon release, with the Escape from Tarkov-inspired DMZ mode receiving particular praise, ongoing issues ranging from potentially game-breaking bugs to Warzone 2’s low TTK have left some players feeling less than satisfied with the series’ sophomore outing.
A new clip shared on the r/Warzone subreddit provides a perfect example of the sorts of unfair bugs that have been a source of frequent complaints by Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players. In the short video from user RagingWombat111, they are seen getting ready to do battle in the game’s Gulag after having been killed in battle. As the countdown timer begins ahead of the round, the video pans to the right and reveals an enemy player seemingly moving about freely with rifle in hand. Frozen in place while the timer ticks down, RagingWombat111 is helpless to defend themselves against the glitched opponent and is quickly eliminated as the video ends. For the full video, click here.
Although RagingWombat111 initially thought that their unfair Gulag encounter was the result of running into one of the numerous hackers in Call of Duty: Warzone 2, multiple responses pointed out that it looked to actually be a prime example of a frustratingly persistent glitch in the game. Several fans of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 responding to the video shared stories of their own encounters with the wildly unfair bug, with many posters recounting their experience of being mowed down by Gulag opponents while they were similarly stuck in place. Offering up a more humorous explanation for the one-sided encounter, one commenter jokingly stated “He is living there leave him alone.”
While Call of Duty: Warzone 2 offers up some unique thrills that can’t be found in other Battle Royale games, the game’s many glitches are beginning to try some players’ patience. Hopefully the most egregious bugs will be addressed before the launch of Warzone 2 Ranked mode in Season 3.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
