With Season 2 finally on approach for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, Infinity Ward releases the launch trailer showcasing what's new for players. It's a big week as both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 are finally getting that big Season 2 update which was unfortunately delayed by a few weeks. The biggest piece to this update is the arrival of a brand new Warzone map called Ashika Island, a location that has many comparing it to another smaller experience similar to Rebirth Island.
In addition to the new content, Warzone 2 is undergoing a number of big changes to the core gameplay. The popular Battle Royale has already outlined some of the changes coming to the Warzone experience which includes streamlining and standardizing the vest system by removing different sizes in favor of 3 plate versions only. In addition, the backpack and looting system have also been simplified, with all players having the same size backpack and loot dropping on the ground. With so much content coming, Infinity Ward is giving players an early look with the Season 2 launch trailer.
The latest Call of Duty: Warzone 2 trailer kicks things off by showcasing the return of Resurgence taking place on Ashika Island. The news is a welcomed one to many fans, as Resurgence is a faster paced mode that allows respawning as long as at least 1 member of the squad is alive. In addition, the trailer also confirms the arrival of ranked multiplayer, something the community has been asking for quite a while. Finally, the Gulag is moving back to the traditional 1v1 setup, removing the 2v2 feature which arrived with Warzone 2.
Multiplayer also got a little love, though based on the trailer comments, many fans are upset that Infinity Ward seems to have primarily turned its attention to Call of Duty: Warzone and DMZ. Inside of Season 2, the 6v6 map Dome is arriving along with Al Malik International as a Battle Map. Gun Game and Infected are also making their return as new game modes, though that seems to be largely the extent of the multiplayer side of the update.
The third pillar of this update centered on the popular DMZ mode, though the community seems torn overall. As previously revealed, Season 2 is completely refreshing the DMZ mode, completely wiping everyone's progress as if it never happened. While disappointing for many, the reason for this wipe is so Infinity Ward could refresh the experience with a new map, balancing, enemies, and missions to complete for new rewards.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
