Call of Duty: Warzone players are set to get the new Mutation Resurgence mode as part of the forthcoming mid-season update. Mutation is a central theme in Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 4 Reloaded update.

Last month, Call of Duty devs introduced Season 4 with a plague-centric theme. It added a plethora of relevant skins, weapon blueprints, in-game rewards, and the like for the players to unlock. Now, the mid-season content refresh, Season 4 Reloaded, is on its way to add mutation-related powers and more to the mix.

Call of Duty has revealed all the Season 4 Reloaded content that's coming to Modern Warfare 3, Warzone, and Warzone Mobile. The mid-season content drop is scheduled to arrive on June 26 for Call of Duty players across all platforms. Interestingly, a brand-new game mode titled Mutation Resurgence will be available to Call of Duty: Warzone players for a limited time. This quad mode sees the players battle it out around Popov Power Plant's remains and enables them to use various mutant abilities to win, with standard Resurgence rules in place. Additionally, Mutation Buy Back mode is another time-limited quad event coming to Warzone. Both modes encourage the player to acquire mutation powers to get the upper hand and have no Lethals or Tacticals available as ground loot.

Call of Duty: Warzone's Mutation Resurgence Mode Brings New Abilities

  • Bioshield
  • Divebomb
  • Mutant Cloak
  • Mutant Leap
  • Mutant Vision
  • Sludge Sling
  • Toxic Stim Cloud

While playing Mutation Resurgence and Mutation Buy Back modes, Call of Duty: Warzone players can equip a variety of mutation powers that help in defense, offense, and traversal. For instance, players can use a Bioshield to engulf themselves in a protective shield while still being able to fire from within the sphere. On the other hand, the Sludge Sling equips the player with toxic gas grenades that inflict damage and slow down enemies. Another offensive ability, Toxic Stim Cloud, lets the player release poisonous gas onto enemies, hurting them and temporarily increasing the traversal speed of the player's team.

Moreover, players can also cover vast stretches of ground using the Mutant Leap ability or use Divebomb to launch into the air and then crash down on the enemies, inflicting damage. They can also become temporarily invisible using Mutant Cloak or detect enemies through walls for a brief period with Mutant Vision. Apart from these special powers, the update will also add new weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone with an increased number of attachments and a Runaway Train public event that involves fending off enemy squads to remain in the safe zone around a moving train.

While some fans await new seasonal content in Call of Duty, others eagerly look forward to the launch of the next entry in the long-running franchise. Intriguingly, there are speculations of a divisive feature making its return in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 this year. Although the controversial grapple gun has come in handy in Call of Duty titles in the past, some fans are understandably worried that its inclusion may negatively impact the multiplayer experience.
