Summary

  • Raven Software disappoints Warzone fans with new playlist update for June 11.
  • The update features no major changes and still leaves Battle Royale Solos absent from the game.
  • Warzone's popular Solos mode was replaced by Casual Solos, a bot-filled alternative, at the beginning of Season 4.

A new playlist update for Call of Duty: Warzone has once again left fans disappointed as many call for developer Raven Software to bring back Battle Royale Solos. The studio shocked fans prior to the launch of Season 4 when it revealed that it would be removing Battle Royale Solos from Call of Duty: Warzone in favor of an identical game mode that consists of a mix of real-life players and bots. While fans were hoping a new playlist update would bring the mode back, that doesn't appear to be the case.

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 kicked off on May 29, adding plenty of new content to the free-to-play shooter. Unfortunately, the update didn't go down too well with fans, largely due to the removal of Battle Royale Solos. In a statement from developer Raven Software, the studio said it had made the decision to remove the mode in order to keep playlist options "focused and manageable." Raven Software also noted that Warzone's new Casual game mode had become a "considerably popular option" among the community. While the exact figures are unknown, the studio's statement appeared to suggest that Battle Royale Solos was one of the less popular playlist options, which is why the studio opted to replace it with the Casual alternative.

Warzone Players Aren't Happy With New Playlist Update

While fans were already outraged by Battle Royale Solos' removal from Call of Duty: Warzone, the community was holding on to hope that it would return soon, primarily due to the fact that Raven Software said its removal was experimental and that it would closely monitor player feedback. However, it looks like Raven Software won't be bringing the mode back anytime soon, as a new playlist update for June 11 to June 18 was revealed yesterday, and standard Solos is nowhere to be seen. The response to the update has been as expected, with Reddit user space-your-face calling it the "worst possible playlist," while BubbRubb11 says they "will never understand why they keep doing this." Others, such as Afraid_Muffin1607 called for the mode's return, saying they are "getting real tired of solo only being available in casual mode."

Unfortunately, this isn't the only controversy to be sparked by the release of Warzone and Black Ops 6 Season 4. While it wasn't mentioned in the official patch notes for the new season, Activision included a change that saw store bundles advertised in the game's create-a-class system. Fans were outraged to find what were essentially advertisements in a $70 game, which then led to Activision removing the controversial feature from Call of Duty before claiming that it was a test released by mistake. However, many fans questioned whether or not that was the truth, as some believe the studio was simply gauging whether or not it would cause controversy.

There are likely even more changes on the horizon for Call of Duty: Warzone players, as Activision recently revealed Black Ops 7 to the world with a mind-bending new cinematic trailer. The shooter doesn't have a release date just yet, but fans can expect the next Black Ops game to be fully integrated with Warzone, which means there will be new weapons and features on their way to the free-to-play title. Although it has yet to be confirmed by developer Treyarch Studios, Black Ops 7 is rumored to feature a new wall-running mechanic that will also be in Warzone.
