  • Raven Software removes Battle Royale Solos in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4.
  • The mode is being replaced with Battle Royale Casual Solos, which features a mix of real players and bots.
  • Fans are outraged by the mode's removal, but Raven says it will continue to monitor player feedback.

Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has announced it will be removing Battle Royale Solos from the game with the beginning of Season 4 today. As detailed in the official patch notes for Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4, Raven Software says the decision is an experimental one and will see the popular game mode replaced with Battle Royale Casual Solos, which is a mix of real-life players and clearly identifiable bots.

Season 4 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone is set to release later today, featuring another massive content update with new features, weapons, maps, and more. Unfortunately, the new season, which isn't even live at the time of writing, appears to have already riled up the community on more than one occasion. While fans are currently expressing their outrage over the removal of Battle Royale Solos, others are concerned that a new Door Barricade field upgrade for Warzone Season 4 could be about to drastically encourage campers. The Door Barricade won't be available in all modes straight away, but it will be making its way to standard playlists later in the season.

Call of Duty: Warzone Removes Battle Royale Solos

Unfortunately, it looks like the controversies surrounding Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 just keep coming, as Raven Software has angered the community once again by announcing that Battle Royale Solos will be removed from the game with Season 4 later today. In the official patch notes for the update, Raven Software said the new Battle Royale Casual mode, which features a mix of players and bots, has become a "considerably popular option." So, in an effort to keep playlist options "focused and manageable," the studio is experimentally replacing Battle Royale Solos with Battle Royale Casual Solos, meaning anyone looking to play alone will be forced to play in lobbies with bots.

As expected, fans have been outraged by the decision. One Twitter user said the modes removal is "absolutely terrible," while another said, "I don’t understand why they don’t just leave all squads alone." While players are clearly disappointed by the removal of core Solos, Warzone's bot-filled lobbies have been incredibly popular with the community since their arrival in Season 3, which is part of the reason as to why Solos has been replaced. Raven has also noted that it will be closely monitoring player feedback and daily active user performance over the coming weeks in order to determine what the next steps for the mode will be.

When the newest season of Warzone kicks off on May 29, a brand-new playlist update will also go live. While it will see Battle Royale Solos removed from the game, players will still be able to jump into Battle Royale Duos and Quads, while Trios will only be available in Warzone's Ranked Play mode. As for Resurgence fans, Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads will all be available on Rebirth Island. Season 4 will also see the return of Clash, a massive limited-time mode that features large scale battles of 52v52 lobbies on Verdansk, with respawning enabled.
