Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has released a new update for the free-to-play shooter, nerfing both the HDR Sniper Rifle and CR-56 AMAX Assault Rifle. The two weapons were added along with Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 3 update in April, quickly becoming fan favorites among the community. Unfortunately, both the AMAX and the HDR have now had their stats nerfed, along with a handful of other weapons.
Call of Duty's Season 3 update was a massive moment for the Warzone community . It not only saw the return of some iconic Modern Warfare weapons, such as the HDR and AMAX, but also brought back Verdansk, the game's first Battle Royale map. The map made its debut alongside Warzone back in 2020, but was replaced by Caldera in December 2021, much to the disappointment of players. Verdansk remained absent for over three years, until it made its triumphant return with the beginning of Season 3 last month.
Call of Duty Players Can Get Free Skin in Black Ops 6 and Warzone for a Limited Time
Call of Duty players can currently claim a few free cosmetics for Black Ops 6 and Warzone, but only if they put in a bit of effort until mid-May 2025.
Verdansk's return to Warzone was a big moment for the Call of Duty community, but it was also aided by the return of some classic weapons, such as the HDR, Kilo 141, and CR-56 AMAX. These were fan favorite weapons in the days of 2019's Modern Warfare, and they remained just as powerful upon their return with Season 3. Unfortunately, it looks like their reign may have come to an end as a new update for Warzone has been released, nerfing both the HDR and AMAX.
According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down this article, the update has decreased the headshot multiplier of the AMAX from 1.6x to 1.35x. The weapon has also had its sprint to fire speed slowed from 190ms to 215ms, and its aim down sight move speed reduced from 3.2m/s to 3m/s. As for Warzone's fan favorite Sniper Rifle, the HDR has had its flinch resistance reduced by 60%, alongside some changes to the Heavy Stock and Combat Stock attachments.
The latest update comes as Raven Software was forced to temporarily disable Ranked Play in Call of Duty: Warzone. The studio took to Twitter to announce it would be removing the competitive mode due to issues with server disconnects and players not being awarded the correct amount of SR. It's unclear how long the mode will be unavailable, but Raven Software says it is working to bring Ranked Play back to its "intended form" as soon as possible.

- Restock is replacing Fire Sale in Ranked Play.
We've been closely monitoring the economy since returning to Verdansk. With recent adjustments to the economy overall, specific strategies involving Fire Sale have become more dominant than intended. While additional tweaks are underway, we're replacing Fire Sale with Restock as we gather data.
Our goal is to reduce the incentive of stockpiling cash and to encourage players to manage and spend their cash strategically throughout the match, especially in the mid-to-late game.

We are making this adjustment to give SMGs more room to shine in the close range, while keeping the AK-74 as a great mid-long range option.
KRIG C
- Medium Damage Range 1 increased from 32 to 33
- Headshot multiplier increased from 1.2x to 1.35x
- Bullet Velocity increased from 820m/s to 830m/s
- Aim Down Sight speed slowed from 260ms to 280ms
- Sustained Fire Recoil improved
The Krig C's recoil was holding it back from being a viable option compared to other ARs at range. This change allows it to compete at longer range engagements.

BUG FIXES
- Fixed an issue where users would sometimes redeploy from the Gulag without a weapon if they entered when the Gulag was closing.

- Fixed an issue causing eliminated players to drop a Field Upgrade they were not carrying.
- Fixed an issue preventing the JAK Slash Aftermarket Part from appearing in the Gunsmith.
