Call of Duty: Warzone had a pretty big impact on the gaming world upon its March 2020 release. Though Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode was the first of the franchise's forays into the battle royale genre, Call of Duty: Warzone was the first standalone, free-to-play release, and naturally, that attracted a much greater audience. Pair that high level of accessibility with a global pandemic that had everyone staying at home for months, and it's easy to see how Warzone amassed over 100 million players in its first year.

Call of Duty: Warzone has remained incredibly popular, but many fans consider those early days to be the battle royale's greatest, with Verdansk often being cited as the best map in Warzone history. For years, fans have been asking for a return to Verdansk, and they'll finally get their wish later this year. But while Activision has confirmed that Verdansk is coming back to Call of Duty: Warzone in 2025, an exact release date hasn't been given. There are a few possible dates that would make a lot of sense.

Before release, one strength of Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Tomb map is already clear, though it serves as a reminder of the game’s biggest issue.

When Verdansk Could Return to Call of Duty: Warzone

Verdansk Could Return as Early as March

Officially, Activision has only stated that Verdansk will return to Call of Duty: Warzone in 2025, confirming the long-awaited good news at last year's COD Next event in August. But according to the most recent rumors, Verdansk's release date could be as early as March.

Verdansk has been available in Call of Duty Mobile since March 2024.

A few weeks ago, leaker @TheGhostOfHope took to X to claim that Call of Duty: Warzone will bring back Verdansk during Season 3. At the time of writing, Season 2 is just about to begin, and it's currently unconfirmed when it'll end and when Season 3 will start. Though, some predictions can still be made.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6/Warzone Season 1 lasted for 74 days. If Season 2 lasted the same duration, then its end-date would be March 22. March 22 is a Saturday, however, and most new seasons start during the week (Season 1 started on a Thursday and Season 2 begins on Tuesday). This means that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 could end sometime between March 18 and March 20.

So, if recent leaks are true, and if Season 1's length is an accurate indication of Season 2's, then fans could see Verdansk return as early as March 18. But that's just the start of Warzone Season 3. The leaks suggest that Verdansk could arrive anytime during Season 3, so it could just as easily not arrive until early April.

March Marks Call of Duty: Warzone's 5-Year Anniversary

Some more fuel to add to the fire is that March also marks Call of Duty: Warzone's fifth anniversary, and the fifth anniversary of Verdansk's debut. There would be no better way to celebrate such a momentous milestone than the return of Call of Duty: Warzone's original map. Warzone was officially released on March 10, which would be a bit too early to fit in with the Season 3 rumors, but all signs are pointing to a release in March.
