Two different games that have recently announced cancellations for Xbox, 1348 Ex Voto and Nickelodeon Splat Pack, will still be appearing on competing consoles. There has been chatter in the gaming community over the past several months about the current state of Xbox, and the loss of two upcoming games could add to the discussion.

Game cancellations can be very upsetting to fans, and they seem to be happening with surprising regularity in recent years. Earlier in January, Ubisoft's stock took a big hit following the announcement of six canceled games, including a remake of The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Two games that have recently backed out of a planned launch on Xbox are still happening, though they'll be doing it on other platforms.

Two Games Are Canceled for Xbox, But Will Still Launch on Other Platforms

  • 1348 Ex Voto
  • Nickelodeon Splat Pack

Xbox fans will have to do without 1348 Ex Voto and Nickelodeon Splat Pack, two games that were slated for release on Xbox Series X|S but will now only be available on other platforms. Less than a week ago, news broke that medieval cinematic action-adventure game 1348 Ex Voto will be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive despite having previously been slated for a release on Xbox Series X|S. Developer Sedleo announced it was pulling back from Xbox in order to provide its players with the "best possible experience for PlayStation and PC," platforms that the game will launch for on March 12. While the independent development team didn't go into specifics on the reasons behind the change in platforms that will run the game, it sounds as though they feel optimizing 1348 Ex Voto for a single console in addition to PC will make their operations run more smoothly, and Xbox is the unfortunate loser in the situation.

It's not yet clear how much of an impact the cancellation of the Xbox version will have on the game or the console. Based in Italy, Sedleo is a small development studio made up of 15 gaming industry veterans. Having been founded just a few years ago, 1348 Ex Voto will be its first major gaming venture. Set in a world devastated by plague, early impressions of the game have drawn comparisons between it and the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series, and the cast inclusion of Jennifer English, winner of Best Performance at The Game Awards 2025 for her role in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is sure to excite many players.

The other upcoming game that has recently been pulled from its planned Xbox launch is Nickelodeon Splat Pack, a collection of three games originally released in the 1990s that are built around popular Nickelodeon cartoons and competitive shows of the bygone era. Set for release on January 30, the pack will feature the video game adaptation of sports competition show GUTS, alongside AAAHH!!! Real Monsters and Rocko's Modern Life: Spunky's Dangerous Day. Limited Run Games, its publisher, has reportedly stated that an Xbox Series X|S version of this collection had been planned, but Nickelodeon Splat Pack will now be launching only for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. No official reason has been given for the cancellation of the Xbox version, and the announcement coming mere days ahead of the multi-platform launch could easily catch potential players off-guard.

These aren't the only two games that have been canceled for Xbox in the past several months, though several other cancellations have come from within Microsoft. Over the summer of 2025, the cancellation of Rare's Everwild and the Perfect Dark reboot were both announced, which coincided with a round of layoffs at Microsoft-owned studios and the shuttering of Perfect Dark's development studio, The Initiative.
