  • Capcom aims to continue investing in the Dead Rising IP, possibly by remaking older titles like Dead Rising 2.

Capcom has shared good news for Dead Rising fans eager to see more games and remakes of the series, as the studio says it hopes to expand on the franchise further after the release of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. While the Dead Rising franchise has remained somewhat dormant since 2016, Capcom now appears to be revitalizing the franchise, starting with a new remaster in September.

The Dead Rising community has been begging for a new entry for eight years now, with 2016's Dead Rising 4 being the last installment in the popular series. While fans won't be getting a new sequel anytime soon, Capcom did reveal a remaster of the original Dead Rising back in June. With updated graphics, new quality-of-life improvements, revamped controls, a new UI, and more, the remaster is aiming to take the 2006 classic and introduce it to a whole new market on the current generation of consoles.

In a new interview with IGN, Capcom not only confirmed who would be voicing Frank West in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, but also noted that it wants to continue expanding the Dead Rising IP once its upcoming remaster has been released. When asked by the outlet if Capcom has any intentions of developing more Dead Rising remasters or possibly even a new entry, the studio said it has "hopes of expanding" the popular series in the future. While Capcom didn't specify if that would come in the form of a brand-new game or another remaster, it did note that all of its efforts are currently focused on promoting Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which is set for release on September 19.

Capcom Hopes to Expand Dead Rising IP

With Dead Rising sales continuing to surge as fans prepare for the launch of the highly-anticipated remaster, it's no surprise that Capcom intends to continue investing in the IP. But as the series' last entry, Dead Rising 4, received generally unfavorable reviews from players, there's a strong chance that Capcom will stick to remaking some of the franchise's older titles, such as Dead Rising 2, which will be fourteen years old this September.

Capcom has also proved its somewhat of a master when it comes to remasters and remakes. The studio's most recent remake came in the form of 2023's Resident Evil 4, which was likely a huge help in Capcom breaking its own sales records in 2023. The studio has had some other gigantic releases though over the past year, including Street Fighter 6, Dragon's Dogma 2, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Exoprimal, and more. But with the Resident Evil series receiving so many successful remakes, it's hard not to believe that Capcom will take the same route with the Dead Rising series moving forward.
