Mike Flanagan's TV adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie has received another exciting update, which includes a new blood-soaked behind-the-scenes image that is sure to thrill fans who are patiently waiting to get their eyes on the classic supernatural horror remake. Flanagan's love for the dark and mysterious has seen him adapt previous versions of King's works, like Gerald's Game and Doctor Sleep, so his next endeavor lines up perfectly with his love of retelling some of the spookiest and eeriest tales from King's huge catalog of literature.

Starring Sissy Spacek and directed by Brian De Palma, the 1974 version of the movie Carrie has been classed as one of the best Stephen King adaptations due to its deep dive into relevant social issues and Spacek's phenomenal and nuanced performance of Carrie White, which saw her, unsurprisingly, earn her her first of six Oscar nominations. Carrie tells the haunting story of a shy and awkward teenage girl who is sheltered by her domineering and religious mother, Margaret, who believes menstruation is a sin and subjects Carrie to extreme practices. This, as well as other incidents, leads Carrie to unleash her telekinetic powers, bringing chaos to everything and everyone around her. One of the film's most memorable and now iconic scenes sees Carrie standing on a stage covered in pig's blood, prompting "The Black Prom," which saw Carrie fly into a telekinesis-induced rage.

In a recent post on his Instagram, Mike Flanagan has excitedly revealed that his Carrie reboot has now entered production. Along with the news, Flanagan showcased a behind-the-scenes image from the movie, which shows off a clapperboard indicating that the TV series is now in its filming stages. Anyone who has seen Carrie previously, whether it was the original or the 2013 version starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, will know how bloody it is, and by the appearance of the clapperboard covered in blood, Flanagan's version will be just as gory.

The image also indicates that Flanagan is the director for the episode, along with cinematographer Michael Fimognari, who is known for his collaborations with Flanagan on projects like Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House, and The Fall of the House of Usher. Fimognari has also directed episodes of Flanagan's series, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
