Side quests are part and parcel of the roleplaying experience, and in Cat Quest 3, things take on a more whimsical nature with plenty of feline jokes and references to all sorts of pop culture phenomena. One of the more interesting diversions players can get up to early on in the game involves helping out the Grumpy Fishercat, which turns out to be quite an emotional ride if you see it through.
The objective is to catch all four Legendary Catfish that are roaming the world. By doing so, players will get their hands on some handy treasure, but also get a taste of some family drama. If you are scratching your head over all the Legendary Catfish locations in Cat Quest 3, this guide will help you get started.
How to Catch a Legendary Catfish in Cat Quest 3
Before you start scouring the seas for the Legendary Catfishes, it is key to know just how you can obtain them. The process is quite similar for the whole collection, players must get in the water with their floats, and guide the creature into a fishing net in order to nab them. There might be different obstacles along the way, such as traps and powerful enemies, so make sure the coast is clear before you attempt to even capture a Legendary Catfish.
All Legendary Catfish Locations in Cat Quest 3
Purvanna - Rock Catfish
Likely to be the nearest Legendary Catfish players will encounter, head over to the western coast of Purvanna and you will spot this Legendary Catfish hanging about. The trouble here is that there are plenty of spiky balls in the water, which take a chunk of health away every time you hit them. Take it slow, staying behind the creature to encourage it to move in the right direction. Eventually, you will get it into the net, and players will be rewarded with the Fishercat Attire equipment.
Lovepurr Islands - Lover Catfish
Now, head east and you will stumble upon the Lovepurr Islands. From there, head southeast to find a U-shaped island where the Lover Catfish resides. Use your ship to destroy the gate here, and jump into the water. The best part about the Lover Catfish is that it will instantly follow you instead of trying to swim away. So simply make your way to the net to capture this Legendary Catfish. Doing so will net you a duplicate of the Fishercat Attire, upgrading it to become more powerful.
Sunset Islands - Sunset Catfish
Your next direction of travel will be toward the northwest, where the Eight Bit Castle is. Spot the spiral island formation on the map, and you are in the right place. You will find the Sunset Catfish just west of the castle, and following the winding path, players cna guide the creature to the fishing net and grab another upgrade for the Fishercat Attire.
Furggy Island - Ghost Catfish
The final Legendary Catfish is in dangerous terrain, located on Furggy Island towards the southwest. Spot the creature in the enclosed bay, and start to guide it along the path towards the net. This is when several powerful ghostly enemies will start spawning and shooting projectiles, and defeating them will only cause more to spawn. Your only choice is to keep pushing the Ghost Catfish towards the net, and doing your best to avoid the high-level attacks. Once that's done, you will receive the Fishercat Hat, and a reminder to head back to the Grumpy Fishercat.
Upon reaching the quest giver, he will reward you with The Son's Rod, a ranged weapon that does increased damage to enemies in the water. Combine all of that with the new Fisherman gear set, and you will be a force to be reckoned with when facing enemies that are swimming around, which will make it easier to tackle other side quests.
